Some update news on the *Woodstock: 3 Days of Peace & Music Directors Cut 40th Anniversary Ultimate Collectors Edition* Blu-ray and DVD releases. It has been moved up to a June 9th release, and there is quite a bit in this version:

 

This box set will feature two hours extra hours of performances from 13 groups who played at the legendary festival, but never made it onto the film, along with a reprint of Life magazine commemorative issue, a lucite lenticular display of festival photos, assorted memorabilia and an iron-on patch with the classic bird-and-guitar Woodstock emblem.

 

 

Technical specs have not been announced at this time, but you can expect a 1080p VC-1 video presentation along with a 5.1 Dolby TrueHD soundtrack.

The other day I received an email that Warner Bros had reopened/opened an online store, but I also just noticed an article in Home Media Magazine that WB is starting to offer things from their library not yet on DVD (or possibly not outside of box sets) directly to the consumer. Accoriding to WB, you can buy them on DVD and have them shipped to you for around $19.95 or approximately $14.95 electronically.

George Feltenstein, SVP of catalog titles for WHV, said the two-and-a-half year project represented an expedited means to bring to market Warner's library of 6,800 films, of which only 1,200 have been released on DVD and 4,100 on VHS.

 

...Feltenstein said heretofore only titles with projected sales from 15,000 and 20,000 unites warranted a DVD production run. He said MOD removed those restrictions..."

I think this could be quite good to get DVDs that wouldn't normally come out due to limiited requests. I think the thing to do is order a film or two to check out the quality. I only hope they end up dropping the $19.95 price to something a bit more reasonable.

There are 5 titles I want from the list. It looks like shipping is free with a bigger order but there is sales tax. Knowing WBHV I am sure the quality of the discs is fine. They probably are only bare bones with the trailer being the extra. This is a very good way of bringing these titles to the public. I have my doubts that the price will drop of these discs. The site mentioned 20% but I am not sure if it includes these discs since the discount did not show up.

I took the plunge and ordered **** TONK. I tried to "preview" but for some reason

it wouldn't play. I didn't see any discount, but the shipping was free even on just a single

item. I will see how it looks and plays when it arrives and if I'm happy with it, I'll see about

ordering more, especially if there really are discounts.

 

Do any of you recommend I sign up for their newsletter---I would only be interested in learning

about sales or promotions related to these items. I didn't want to sign up only to receive a lot

of notices about modern films on DVD.

Couldn't hurt to sign up. I have two different e-mail addresses so I put my address on the e-mail which gets the junk just in case.

 

When ordering there is a box at the bottom to tell you to put in promo code. To get the 25% off I was told you would need to order five DVD's. Hopefully there will be more promos on these DVD's that is why I signed up for e-mails.

Hi, MissG, I just tried the clip for **** Tonk and it worked for me.

 

As far as the newsletter, they will probably try to sell you everything under the sun from t-shirts to stuffed animals. If anything really special comes up, I will list it in this site, so you can keep an eye here.
