(They'll probably be released without supplements at a future date, but still). > Woodstock can be got without the trinkets at Wal-Mart for $29.99. If you're talking about the blu-ray edition, then I might look into that. > A Dog of Flanders (1960) will be released by Koch on July 14. The film stars David Ladd and Donald Crisp. I am almost certain that TCM showed this once, but in a pan-and-scan print. Hope the DVD will be in the correct aspect ratio.
HollywoodGolightly
I'm not sure if anyone here will be interested, but I don't think it has been mentioned before - a region-free BD of The Professional (aka Leon) has been released in France, and dvdbeaver.com just reviewed it: http://www.dvdbeaver.com/film/DVDReviews7/leon.htm The US BD release has yet to be announced; the French version comes with removable French subtitles... it sells for about ?23. However, this one comes up a bit skimpy as it only has two episodes. It will street on July 28th from Infinity. There will be twelve more volumes eventually completing the 26-show run. HollywoodGolightly
Too bad Ben-Hur won't be ready in time for the 50th anniversary; on the other hand, it's good that they take their time and get it right, especially for such a huge epic. The upside is that 2010 looks to be a great year for blu-ray enthusiasts.

filmlover
It's official! Gone with the Wind Ultimate Collector's Edition Blu is now available for ordering from the WBshop.com, and I am guessing the date of release will be November 30...though the listing in the shop says 11/30/_02_. http://www.wbshop.com/on/demandware.store/Sites-WB-Site/default/Product-Show?pid=1000043133&adid=ClsscPreEml
HollywoodGolightly
Well, if it GWTW comes out in November, might it not be better perhaps to wait for DD's November sale? Maybe that'd be a better price than you can get at the WB store, unless you can get a 30% off coupon that actually works on pre-orders.
filmlover
Over the weekend, I got in on a deal for the Oz Blu set plus two other Blu sets on the WB site using a code for Buy 2 Get 1 free, plus another for 25% off, and was able to stack them, so it worked out to less than $37 a set (which would be about 60% off the Oz $89.95 street price). And I was going to try the codes again for GWTW and two others because at $37 average, DDD will never equal that even during the November sale (the $64.95 is just WBShop's price...the street price is $89.95). I was going to post those codes here as soon as I got confirmation the order worked because a lot of people were using them and I wanted to make sure they weren't invalidated because no one has received an email from the WB shop yet confirming the orders. And Monday I received an email from the WB shop that Gone With the Wind, Lord of the Rings, and the Oz sets were now available on the site. I followed that link above for GWTW, put it in my cart for a few hours, but I just went back in and a red warning said to remove it from the cart because something wasn't working with the code or whatever. I did so, and a search could no longer find the GWTW listing, as well as the Rings set...gone...and not even the links through the email from WB Shop worked for either of those two. Something's happening on the site and I guess we will find out in the next day or two.
HollywoodGolightly
Well, best of luck with the pre-orders to everyone. From blu-ray.com, news regarding the theatrical version of Grindhouse on blu-ray: An early announcement to retailers indicates that Genius Products and The Weinstein Company are set to release Robert Rodriguez and Quentin Tarantino's 'Grindhouse' on Blu-ray on August 11. No edition details are available, other than this would be a two-disc set, but it may well be the theatrical Grindhouse double feature. 'Grindhouse' was conceived, edited and shown theatrically (in the US) as a typical exploitation double-feature as one could attend at cheap theaters in the 1970s: it consisted of two features ('Planet Terror', by Robert Rodriguez, and 'Death Proof' by Quentin Tarantino), interspersed with fake trailers and bumpers. However, the film underperformed theatrically and the films were released separately (in expanded versions) on home video. The Grindhouse double feature wasn't even released theatrically in Europe, and its only DVD release so far is a coveted special edition from Japan. iowahawkeye
Someone PLEASE tell me, why in the WORLD are we seeing an Ester Williams Vol 2 before we even see a 2nd Barbara Stanwyck set? Is George F. smoking crack over there at WB? and the archive collection on wb.com is giving tons of love to Joan and Clark, but very little to Babs. i just don't get it. If anyone has definitive word on an upcoming Babs set, please let me know, thanks.
edgeciff
Hasn't WB released most of the Stanwyck catalogue? I know Sony owns many of her earlier titles.
iowahawkeye
The Secret Bride, Gambling Lady, A Lost Lady, Ever in My Heart, Illicit, Ladies they Talk About -- these and a few more are all under WB and still unreleased. They did just put Breakfast for Two out on the archive collection, but i'm not thrilled by the print quality they preview on the site. Of the early stuff, Sony owns about 5 of them pre-1940, and those are important ones for sure that will hopefully be in a Frank C./Babs set that has been rumored for a while now.
