deeanddaisy666
Well, GM, did I have a good idea or did I have a good idea???? Best that Sterling Hayden is no longer with us...I THINK I would have been a stalker, he is absolutely delicious looking. And Lizabeth Scott........sigh, she's wonderful. Question...is it the photographers, the black and white medium, the youth and relative innocence of the stars..........what IS it about studio stills from that era that tugs at the heart of mortal men and women? Today's 'stars' don't have the same effect, nor does color photography. This thread is beyond wonderful. dolores
GarboManiac
Well, stoney, I would say it was a combination of their youth and the photographer's skill back then. They were masters of their craft, and they all worked (well, most of them) for a studio system that supported their taking several shots and retouching the photo until it seemed perfect. There was an EXCELLENCE that existed back then that we don't have now (in anything, IMHO). The efforts they took in all aspects of production back then, now just seem like a waste of time and, especially, money when much can be done on a computer! And, although I know computers are run by hand, there is much to be said for the old techniques, as primitive or difficult as they may seem now. Just look at these results. And, thanks for the idea! It was grand!

oobleckboy
If you can't see the pix -- just right click (or what ever your system requires) and select "VIEW IMAGE". It should take you to the image source url. Should. Nice Marjorie Main pic. With all these beauty queen posted here I didn't expect to see her! Excellent.
Snarfie
They're back down again. If the problems continue I'll just substitute the images with the links instead. Actually Marjorie Main was Ken123's idea. ; )
deeanddaisy666
No, oobleckboy, even right clicking is not working. I'm sure someone here will figure it out.
Snarfie
The links aren't working either. Sorry everyone. The Carole Lombard pic is the first picture in the following gallery: http://classicmoviefavorites.com/lombard/gallery2.html A rare color picture of her.
