ac30fan
Greetings Forum - My 1st post So, I'm sitting at home on vacation watching a Kay Kyser film on TCM, and I'm reminded of something I saw in college way back in the 1982... The dorm floor community TV had an old movie (likely B&W but not certain) on, and although it's been many years, i recall the film contained a big-band song featuring a female singer making use of a Vocoder, or similar prototype, device... I know other films of the era featured "Talk Box" devices, mostly for special effect, but this was definitely an early adoption of the technology in Music. And since it was 1982, there was no easy resource to investigate the details of what i had just seen/heard. I think maybe the film was a vehicle for a specific Big Band leader (Kyser, Dorsey...) Film Buffs: Please help me out. Any idea what this film was? Thanks! RCS
MilesArcher
A little googling might give you the answer. Check out this clip from the 1940 film "You'll Find Out" with Kay Kyser, Harry Babbitt, and Ginny Simms.
