Dargo
Oh, I dunno. Maybe 'cause Rita and the rest of these young people aren't singin' and dancin' to somethin' like, "I Like To Be in Canada"???.... (...well, at least that's the only thing I can come up with here, anyway)
slaytonf
It's on tonite as part of TCM's theater to cinema series. Today, musicals are featured. It looks like they tried to get a lineup of movies that related to the Revolutionary period. Admittedly, the connections are tenuous, as there are few such musicals. The only link The Music Man has, for example, is that it takes place partly on July 4th. Even Yankee Doodle Dandy doesn't really have a direct link to Independence Day, except for Mr. Cohan's claim to be born then.
