First Movie SONG That Comes to Mind

Recommended Posts

"We Kiss in the Shadow" -- The King and I (1956)

(I really wanted to post "No Other Love" from Me and Juliet, but it was never made into a movie. Rodgers previously used the tune for Victory at Sea.)

Next: Sung by an unhappy character

"The Gentleman Is a Dope" -- sung by Lisa Kirk in Welcome to Woop Woop (1997). (The song is from R&H's Allegro, but was used in Welcome to Woop Woop, a bizarre film about a secluded and psychotic Australian town where the only form of entertainment is Rodgers & Hammerstein original cast albums.)

Next: A Shirelles song used in a movie

"The Sidewalks of New York"  featured in Roughly Speaking (1945) and many other movies

A movie song about a city you aren't fond of (I'm trying to get away from all the "favorite" stuff.)

"You'd Be so Nice to Come Home To" by Cole Porter -- written (and Oscar nominated) for  Something to Shout About (1943), where it was sung by Don Ameche and Janet Blair.

I'm particularly partial to Diane Keaton's rendition in Radio Days (1987):

Next: A song that was Oscar nominated but lost to a song that wasn't as good.
