Need variety in movies

Recommended Posts

Playing the same genre or movie star all day gets very boring.  The past two days have been westerns.  Other days a movie star is highlighted.  What is purpose?  How about a variety mixing up genres and stars.  Variety is the spice of life.

I enjoy a theme of types of movies.  That makes it easier to record a genre I like and not bother with a day of something I don't care for.  I especially liked August with a whole day of stars.  I would like to see a whole day of those "character actors" like William Demarest or Eve Arden.  It is hard to find their movies as their names aren't usually listed in the descriptions.

There's already a "Star of the Month" category, so I don't see the need to fill an entire day featuring one performer.  Perhaps a day devoted to a single behind-the-scenes person, for instance, director/screenwriter/editor/etc., which I know TCM already does.  In that way at least you're not seeing the same face on the screen all day long.

One aspect of this "all day dedication" I can definitely do without is genre overload.  All day of nothing but war movies, westerns, baseball/football and...yes :o...even musicals.  As much as I'm an avid animal lover, I'd nix the all-day-athon of Lassie, Rusty(?) and other animal-related films too.  (Do "Tarzan" movies count in that category? If so, include them as well).

If I know from the git go that an entire day is going to feature one single theme or actor, unless it's a movie I've not seen for awhile or I don't mind seeing for the umpteenth time because I love it, then I don't even bother putting TCM on for the rest of the day.
