This morning TCM rolled out some real rarities from the early 30's that featured Edward Ellis. It was a rather quiet salute, I don't believe Ellis was mentioned once in the promos - though I can't say for sure. They also included his last picture The Omaha Trail (1942).

He has long been one of my favorite character actors, since I first saw him in I Am a Fugitive from a Chain Gang (1932).

Edward Ellis was born November 12, 1870 and died July 26, 1952.

To me it's these types of films and the actors in them that keep me tuned 24/7 to TCM!
