The one with Humphrey Bogart, a motley crew of Allied soldiers, and a tank in the desert is Sahara (1943); it's played a few times on TCM this year and may still be under license. It's rather a knock-off of The Lost Patrol in some ways.

The Steel Lady (1953) is a different picture, though it also involves the desert and a tank. Some oil company guys, stranded in the Sahara and beset by bandits, find an abandoned German tank from WW II, which might save them, if they can get it back into running order. Rod Cameron is the star of this one, and it's a lower-budget movie, produced by an indie company and released via United Artists. Saw this at the movies when I was a tyke. Vallo's almost always right, but not when he says Bogie is in Steel Lady.

"Sahara" is shown on Retroplex, if your system carries it, all the time. Bataan, starring Robert Taylor, Robert Walker, Lee Bowman, Lloyd Nolan, and Thomas Mitchell, is the " official " Lost Patrol remake. It was directed by Tay Garnett, " The Postman Always Rings Twice ".
