LawrenceA
Just saw this trailer. I thought others may be interested.
Hookshot
This looks like it has potential. The 1933 King Kong will always be one of my favorite films. The Peter Jackson version had great special effects, but I thought it was much too long (too much unneeded backstory, in my opinion). I like big, giant monsters (the bigger, the better), and I hear that in this film, Kong will be 100 feet tall - now that's what I'm talking about! Also, I hear that after the followup to 2014's Godzilla is released, Kong and the Big G will clash in the next movie. In the 2014 movie, I think that Godzilla was around 300 - 350 feet tall. If that is the case, Kong is gonna have to do some serious growing before he can scrap with Big G. Two 300+ ft classic monsters in one movie ... I'll be there. One thing tho, I kinda miss the old 'big head' Godzilla - to me, these new versions look like they had a run-in with the shaman(?) / witch doctor(?) from Beetlejuice.
Swithin
Looks interesting, though maybe a bit too modern for me -- I like horror films with an air of mystery and not as much noise as this film seems to have. I don't think I'm particularly keen on big monsters. Tom Hiddleston is everywhere!
johnm001
That the trailer touts "From the Producers of GODZILLA", is enough to keep me as far away from this film as is possible. GODZILLA is, for me, the worst film ever made. I hated every single second of it.
TomJH
It's an intriguing trailer that perks my interest. But there is an art to making a good trailer that doesn't mean the film involved is necessarily a fraction as good. I have to agree with John about the prospects for this film if it comes from the same people who had given us the recent Godzilla, a film only worth viewing for its CGI effects. Still Samuel L. Jackson and John Goodman are in this film. If only it could also have . . .
Waterpilot
It's going to be another one of those movies where we don't get to see a clear picture of the monster until the end. I'm excited though for Tom Hiddleston and Brie Larson.

DougieB
These actors could probably help pull it off, but the whole thing has the look of Vietnam-era war porn. Part of the power of the original was the elemental man vs. beast aspect, but that could easily be lost in all the helicopters and napalm. But Aaron Taylor Johnson helped me navigate through Godzilla, so maybe Tom Hiddleston and Brie Larson can do the same for this.
Waterpilot
Let's be honest. Can Kong fight Godzilla?. I'm on Kong side but Godzilla is just way out of his league.

johnm001
I, apparently, forgot all about seeing this trailer; or, at least, who was in the film. I was backstage at the Broadhurst Theatre, in New York, after a matinee performance of THE FRONT PAGE, engaged in a group conversation with many of the well-known cast, including John Goodman, when the topic of this film came up. I pretty much reiterated my post, below, saying how GODZILLA was, for me, the worst film I ever saw, and I had no intention of seeing this. I was shocked, yesterday, to discover that John Goodman is in this film! Nobody said a word to me, when I said that. No doubt someone talked about me, after I left! Although I said nothing about Goodman or the quality of this film, as I've not seen it, I still felt horrible when I realized he was in it. cinemaspeak59
Kong: Skull Island did everything a monster movie is supposed to do, and then some. Unlike Peter Jackson's 2005 King Kong remake, which seemed to put more effort in making audiences admire the realism of every strand and texture of Kong's hair, Skull Island sticks to maintaining the flow of entertainment. Samuel L. Jackson as a war-mongering colonel whose first, last and only response is military action chews up the scenery. John C. Reilly as a WWII pilot stranded on Skull Island provides much needed comic relief. Don't worry about what people eat to survive on Skull Island, just sit back and indulge in two hours of monster fun. I think I was the only person who didn't leave when the credits rolled. I'm glad I stayed, because a scene before the lights came on hints at a sequel involving Godzilla and, I think, Mothra.
starkhome
The critics have panned this movie. I haven't seen it, but both my 13 and 15 year-old sons have and they loved it. I imagine that this movie was made for 13 and 15 year-old boys and not film critics.
Aladinni
I watched this movie because Tom Hiddleston was in it. It turned out to be fairly disappointed though, I prefer the King Kong 1933...
