I also enjoy those old detective/mystery movies.

I've seen quite a few of them but strangely, have never even heard of the Dr. Crabtree series.

Looking at the IMDb, the entries in this series have zero votes, which indicates a very rare or lost film. Vitaphone produced these so I believe TCM would have the broadcast rights. Love to know more about them.

Re: Dr. Crabtree--I believe the INSPECTOR CARR/DR. CRABTREE vehicles were shorts. While I've never seen them, I do know a collector who has 3 of the 12 that were made in the early '30's--SKULL MYSTERY,STUDIO MURDER MYSTERY and WALL STREET MYSTERY. I think Donald Meek played one of the characters in the series.

Here is what I found on IMDB about "The Wall Street Mystery," just picking one at random. I got nowhere checking "Crabtree" there, but lo and behold, when I typed in the title ......

Donald Meek .... Dr. Crabtree / John Hamilton .... Insp. Carr

rest of cast listed alphabetically: Hobart Cavanaugh / Frances Dale ....

Runtime: 17 min

Schedule alert--

TCM is airing two rarely seen "Kitty O'Day" mystery movies this Friday morning.

Also, over on the 'shorts' board, someone said that TCM plans to show some "Crime Doctor" entries in March. They'd be nice to see. George Sherman and William Castle directed some of them.
