Help with title of short

Animated, color, Christmastime, post-war / apocalypse where little owl is telling all the

other little critters the story of how the humans destroyed themselves. Does this

sound remotely familiar to anyone else?

You may be talking about "Goodwill to Men" (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0048131/), but it was an old mouse rather than a little owl.

MGM released two versions of this story. The first, "Peace on Earth" (1939), has young squirrels ask their grandfather what "men" are. In the 1955 remake "Good Will To Men", mice hear a similar story from the wise old owl, but with an updated ending (you can probably guess how humanity ended in this version).

Minor point, but I am pretty sure it was an old mouse rather than an owl in "Goodwill to Men". In "Peace on Earth", it was an old squirrel. I have them both and can watch them again, but both imdb.com and bcdb.com bear me out. :-)
