Mr. And Mrs. Trump really look like they're ready to dive into that Houston disaster and help rescue people or at least handout needed water and food.

After all, this is the way that Rosalyn and Jimmy Carter dress when they build those houses for Habitat for Humanity.

And Those are definitely the same kind of stiletto high heels that Michelle Obama wears on Thanksgiving when she and the Obama family go into food centers to serve the hungry and homeless.

The Trumps look like a "Vogue" version of how to dress in a disaster area.

Too pathetic to go on.

Oh c'mon now, Princess. Give Melania a break here, why doncha?!

Ya see, once she heard that there were sharks swimming around the streets of Houston, she remembered hearing that stiletto heels are excellent for fending off those nasty suckers.

Stab 'em in the eye with your Ferragamos, and they'll swim away never to return. Or haven't you heard this too?!

AND, those loafers that the Man-Child-in-Chief is wearing?

Well, THOSE are GREAT at jumping sharks!

(...yeah, and as if his Administration hadn't already done THAT months ago, huh)

;)

Dargo, if Marie Antoinette said let them eat cake--

Then Melania can go down in history and become famous for saying let them wear Louboutin!

(You knew that I'd have to go with French shoes. LOL)

If the first lady is really going to pass out these Louboutin shoes so that the ladies can use them as stilts to keep their feet dry in all that water,

that's going to be a very expensive proposition.

As Louboutin shoes run between $700 and $1,500 a pair--

According to:

Neiman Marcus,

Bergdorf Goodman and

Saks Fifth Avenue

Rats! You've evidently only read my previous post before I edited it and added that "jumping sharks" line, Princess.

(...I was more proud of that one than of the "Ferragamo" line, ya know) ;)

Ann Coulter: Just go away, please.  Stay in your bigoted white supremacy tower and leave us alone.

Joel Osteen:  So it took public pressure for you to open up your ego monument. Nice move.

Melania Trump:  Dressing fashionably in your chic high-end designer disaster-wear finest.  Good thing your assistant brought along a change of clothes for you.  You're almost as tone deaf as your idiot husband.  Maybe you should have just stayed in Trump tower reading the latest issue of TOWN & COUNTRY.

Man, #Texas is as good as it gets. They got sharks swimming up their freeways and #Texans are in that water saving people. #HarveyHeroesDIWoPPaUwAAXQks.jpg

"This photo of a Great White cruising along Hurricane Harvey floodwaters in Texas is 100 percent fake. Nothing about it is true. At no point did this happen anywhere in the world.

It surfaced during Hurricane Irene in 2011 and has been thrown around social media during pretty much every major flood since.

But the shark originally appeared in a 2005 spread in Africa Geographic magazine. It’s been the victim of Photoshop (good Photoshop, I must say) by hoaxers.

It’s not the only fake photo you’ve seen since Harvey made landfall on Friday

What,  PETA isn't suing to ensure the shark gets royalties?

The Trump administration has not decided whether it will accept aid from Mexico to help victims of the hurricane.

Lo siento. That is exactly what Trump will have to say to the people in Houston and to all the victims of this horrible climate-changing hurricane.

But after all, if Trump thinks that Mexican people are murderers and rapists, then he probably doesn't want their help anyway.

Boomtown, Flood Town-

"Climate change will bring more frequent and fierce rainstorms to cities like Houston. But unchecked development remains a priority in the famously un-zoned city, creating short-term economic gains for some while increasing flood risks for everyone....

Cutting corners for quick economic wins but no foresight.  As gulf waters warm, storms are going to get worse.  If there is going to be building on wetlands then prepare for the consequences.

earth climate changes. are we doomed because of something that has been occurring on it's own for billions of years?

haven't you ever listened to the opening narration of Creature From The Black Lagoon?

it's a real eye opener...

"and here we see the earth rapidly cooling from a temperature of zillions of degrees to just a few hundred in just a few billion years. the heat rises, forms clouds and rain pours down upon the rapidly cooling earth for countless centuries..."

you see, those universal-international guys like william alland and jack arnold really knew their stuff.  :)

Pay attention.  Human activity is speeding up climate change, not the Creature from the Black Lagoon.   :)

VOGUE could not have done a better organized fashion shoot.. it's just too bad that Melania had to take off that $1,000 pair of Louboutin Stiletto high heels in snakeskin, no less.

Now Comes the Uncomfortable Question: Who Gets to Rebuild After Harvey?

"...the National Flood Insurance Program, a federal program that just so happens to be expiring at the end of September, meaning debate over its re-authorization will compete for time with everything else on a packed fall congressional calendar.

“Harvey should be a wake-up call” for deep flood insurance reform, says Rob Moore, a senior policy analyst with the Natural Resource Defense Council’s water team. “One of the biggest shortcomings is that the program has always been intended first and foremost to be a rebuilding program.”...

...Pushing against an overhaul are major developers and real estate interests like the National Realtors Association. One of the biggest voices pushing for it has been a coalition called SmarterSafer, an active proponent for Biggert-Waters that encompasses everyone from big environmental groups to insurance companies to conservative free market think tanks. For different reasons, all of them want to see rates that are more actuarially sound and less heavily subsidized by taxpayers....

...the fact that there are now millions of people living in areas that shouldn’t be inhabited at all, no matter the cost. “There’s the uncertainty of living at risk,” Elliot says, “and there’s the uncertainty of what it means to stay in your community when in the near to medium term, it’s going to become more expensive for you to do so — and in the long term, physically impossible.”

Yeah, maybe some of these low-lying coastal cities in THIS country could take a page out of how Holland has handed this sort of thing for decades now, and how the city of Amsterdam in particular has, if you'll pardon the expression, "kept their heads above water".

Naaah, now that I think about this again, there's no way this kind'a thing could work over here.

Nope, NOT when one of the very first lines you'll read after googling "Politics of the Netherlands" says the following"

Dutch politics and governance are characterised by a common striving for broad consensus on important issues, within both the political community and society as a whole.[1]

Nope, that whole "striving for broad consensus on important issues" thing would NEVER work here in the good ol' "every man for himself" U.S. of A., now would it!

In fact, the man-child who's presently in charge around here now seems hell bent on a course of "It's my way or the highway", doesn't he. And in fact, I don't even think the man-child even KNOWS what the term "broad consensus" MEANS!

(...although MY bet is there's a good chance he might think it means he'd like to have more women at his disposal to be able to fondle whenever Melania isn't around!)

Animal advocates mobilize to keep pets safe in Hurricane Harvey's wake-

"....The national effort being undertaken by the Humane Society of the United States, Wings of Rescue, the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, GreaterGood.org, the Best Friends Animal Society and other organizations involves flying homeless dogs and cats who already populated Texas shelters to facilities in other parts of the country. Those animals will go up for adoption in their new area while Texas shelters make room for pets who might wind up lost or abandoned in the wake of the hurricane and floods.....

This time around, in Houston, people are taking their dogs and cats with them when they evacuate, and many shelters are accepting pets, Jarl said.

“I’ve seen more people walking down the street with their dogs and cats than with their possessions,” she said.

Wayne Pacelle, CEO of the Humane Society of the United States, wrote in a blog post that people from all facets of first response learned after Katrina about better handling of people’s furry companions....

Harvey Danger: Major Chemical Plant Near Houston Likely to Explode, Facility Owner Warns-

The materials must be kept very cool, but refrigerators for the plant's low-temperature containers are out of commission, and backup generators were also swamped, meaning "the potential for a chemical reaction leading to a fire and/or explosion within the site confines is real," the company said.

Although the situation is very serious in the greater Metropolitan Houston area, there seems to be some reluctance on the part of trump to accept aid from neighboring Mexico.

Today Secretary of State Rex Tillerson met with the foreign minister of Mexico, who offered a plethora of aid options from the Mexican people.

Despite this generous offer of assistance from Mexico, it seems the people of Texas will just have to wait and see if trump feels like accepting the assistance in their behalf.

If he doesn't, this reminds me very much of what Sam Brownback did to a number of needy adults in Kansas concerning their Healthcare.

With Obamacare, President Obama offered federal financial aid to extend State Medicaid to those in need. Currently the Kansas State Medicaid system only will serve needy children, the disabled and needy persons 65 and over.

So with so many Kansans falling through the cracks, who weren't entitled to Obamacare, Brownback had no problem in refusing this State Medicaid extension because he didn't like Obamacare or President Obama.

(Ironically Brownback's predecessor, Kathleen Sebelius, the former governor of Kansas, was the Secretary of Health and Human Services who was responsible initially for directing Obamacare.)

So you've got to picture this - - here's a rich man who can easily pay for his own health care but who has his health care paid for by the state of Kansas and he doesn't want to accept federal aid to extend health care to adults who are needy and are not disabled or elderly. ( Does this remind you of anybody in Congress?)

I think it's truly amazing how some Republican office holders can have a high standard of living personally and from government benefits, yet they want to prevent those who are truly in need from getting the basic necessities of life.
