spence
"Hands of Stone" I went to this on Friday night & have only now been able to write about it, but in all probability people on here will not be into seeing this mediocre release anyway Judging from it's trailers-(which can be tricky) it looked like *Robert De Niro just may snag his 8th *Oscar shot, but that's not gonna' happen for this one anyway It's still a finely tuned work here though As a huge boxing buff & of course flix about the sport, it kinda' starts off ridiculously, when the somewhat lead character looks nothing like it's title character (Roberto Duran???) Not exactly in the same ring as "Raging Bull" or even some lesser boxing pix. i.e. "Streets of Gold" (l986) but I don't think it's bad, myself As for *De Niro, at age 73, he'll still likely have 2 more releases coming right up. The actor averages about (3) a year thesedays! I believe he's easily crank'ed out over 90 by now (P.S. as I've written before, wish the network would show/focus on maybe (1) new theatrical release per month, as it used to. The nxt film I go & see is the first teaming of *Eastwood-(directing) & *Tom hanks-(starring) "Sully" & it's the type TCM used to somewhat plug. An almost certain high profile 2016 *Oscar contender) I'd personally rate "Hands..." (**-out of 4) Better yet ( -out of four) THANX
