edgeciff
Filmlover, thanks for that info. Was not going to buy the clunky box set but at this price who could resist. Don't like these boxes since they take up too much room. BTW, have you bought the BR of ONE EYED JACKS? I sold my sealed copy to someone out of town and they can't get it to play in the English mode, only German voices come on. Don't know why this is happening. I know you need to turn off the other languages to work. Do you have any info to help or any other person reading this can help?
filmlover
Talk about great timing. I was in Amoeba over the weekend and picked up the German release of One-Eyed Jacks ("...Noche Hange Ich Nicht") for $5.99. The American release also works from this German print and German is the default audio. There are two simple ways to get to English audio. 1. on the main menu of the Blu, click on SETUP and it will give you the choice of German or English. Make sure ENGLISH is in red, not white, and click on it. That will switch it to English. 2. the other way to do it is to simply use the button on his remote that says "AUDIO". It will switch it to English. This Blu, though, has a pretty bad video. So if he is disenchanted, tell him this is a small company that issued it because it is in the public domain, and not indicative of regular Blus.
edgeciff
Film.lover, Thanks for the info. I already passed it on to him. I did not even open the sealed BR when I read how bad the print was, I just decided to sell it right away. THE RED HOUSE with Edw. G. Robinson is coming shortly in BR, I hope this one is not bad too. All the prints that are around are dreadful. But I don't know how a company could release a dismal copy on BR. This one is a great film, so I will keep my fingers crossed but wait until reviews come out before I purchase it.
filmlover
I was looking around Amazon and came across a couple of excellent deals of "4 Movie Marathon" sets issued by Universal. You can do a search on Amazon and see various collections they have. Some run about $9.99 but I found two that are excellent for their money: 4 Movie Marathon: Classic Western Collection (Albuquerue/Whispering Smith/Duel At Silver Creek/War Arrow) $5.99 http://www.amazon.com/Movie-Marathon-Collection-Albuquerque-Whispering/dp/B004GSVX8A/ref=sr_1_3?s=movies-tv&ie=UTF8&qid=1330751981&sr=1-3 4 Movie Marathion: Classic War Collection (Wake Island/To Hell and Back/Battle Hymn/Gray Lady Down) $5.49 http://www.amazon.com/Four-Movie-Marathon-Classic-Collection-Island/dp/B004GSVXBW/ref=pd_bxgy_mov_img_b The prices go up and down but they are generally returning to the above. Worth getting.
