Just a pile of boxes that they walk all over while trying to locate the packages for their stop. Supposedly the boxes are "organized" but I don't see it. Gross on the cockroach! We sometimes would have dead cockroaches on pallets of freight we received. We'd grab a cardboard corner or something to try and scoop it up without touching it. Maybe I can strategically tape the corner of my Awful Truth insert back together. It's just the corner of the box that looks like it was stepped on and crushed, tearing the insert in the process. Speaking of shipping nightmares, I was expecting my new laptop via FedEx today, and it was getting kind of late, so I checked the tracking again, and saw that it had been marked as delivered 3 hours earlier and handed off to the person on the label. I contacted FedEx and dealt with their customer service who stated that an investigation would be opened, but since this a holiday weekend, I may not hear back from anyone until next week! Thankfully a while later there was a knock at my door, and someone I know who lives on the next street over had received the package, and he brought it over to me. This guy's address is in no way similar to mine, different street name, different number, and he certainly wasn't the guy on the label. He said he found it on his doorstep when he got home. Real professional, FedEx!
speedracer5
First wave of Criterion purchasing at B&N: i got: A Face in the Crowd The Princess Bride The Asphalt Jungle Some Like it Hot Detour I had $60 worth of gift cards, plus I’m a B&N member. After all was said and done, I spent $12. Ready for round 2 soon. 2 more paydays until the sale ends!
LawrenceA
I ordered my second and final group of films from the B&N sale: Lady Snowblood 1 & 2 The Shooting/Ride in the Whirlwind The Breaking Point Stalker Repo Man I also still have Do the Right Thing and 1984 on pre-order. I've certainly met my monthly discretionary budget limit!
Sukhov
Stalker's a favorite of mine. When I fix my DVD player, I might order that one.

speedracer5
I am home sick. There is the B&N Criterion sale and the 4/$44 WB Sale. No good can come from this. The bird is in heaven however, because he doesn't have to be in his cage today.

speedracer5
I really dislike that Warner Archive redesigned their site to remove the ability to filter by year. I used to just filter by the years I was interested in, but now I cannot do that. It's too tedious to look through thousands of films. I have to search by actors that I like as I think of them. That's the first time that I've used their site or ordered directly from them. Thankfully, I already knew what I was looking for when I went there, so I didn't need to sort through them all. LawrenceA
Well, I did my bookkeeping and decided that I could swing another Criterion order before the B&N sale ends. Unfortunately, I learned that a few that I've had on my want list for a while are no longer available: Broadcast News (1987), The Ice Storm (1997), and Naked (1993). Here's what I did order: The Friends of Eddie Coyle (1973) A Touch of Zen (1971) A Dry White Season (1989) The Squid and the Whale (2005) Quadrophenia (1979) My Man Godfrey (1936) - I had this on DVD, but I wanted the Blu ray upgrade. 2
speedracer5
So I went a little insane in the WB Archive 4/44 sale. I think I panicked when I realized that the sale was ending. The good thing is that I'll be able to clear up some room on the DVR: I purchased: Made in Paris (1966) Callaway Went Thataway (1951) It Started With a Kiss (1959) Lady in the Lake (1947) Mr. Lucky (1943) I Love Melvin (1953) The Catered Affair (1956) Executive Suite (1954) Tender Comrade (1943) Vivacious Lady (1938) Tom, Dick and Harry (1941) --- Then, while I was down in Eugene for a friend's wedding, we just happened to go to Barnes and Noble while killing time before lunch. So of course I had to pick up some more Criterion. I purchased: The Heiress (1949) Swing Time (1936) My Man Godfrey (1936) 2

LawrenceA
Twilight Time has a "Christmas in September" sale going on, with discs as low as $5.95. It's a very good sale since their films usually sell for quite a bit. I bought four of 'em! https://www.twilighttimemovies.com/

Now is the time of the year when my mom will say: "Stop shopping" and she'll insist that I tell her which Criterion I want... and then, I struggle, because I'm like "what if I don't get the films that I REALLY want and have to wait for the next B&N sale in July or for another Criterion Flash sale. I usually omit the films I REALLY want off the list and buy those myself. Lol. Cluny Brown is definitely on my list, as are the two Bette Davis films.
