spence
TCM ended it's "SUTS" day, honoring Jean Simmons-(l929-2011) with the nicely made (***) 1953 picture "The Actress" (M-G-M) & it always reminds me that *"The Great: Spencer Tracy"-(l900-l967) Strangely & ironically won a Best Actor-Drama Golden Globe Award for it-(most, including remaining members of his family, didn't even know this fact? I literally had to show Cyndi T. one day, when we were on the phone together. Going to her own computer & her 1st question was "Well, Where Is It?" unquote) & yet, didn't snag yet another *Academy (AMPAS) Award nomination for what is arguably his crankiest role. The official outstanding lead performance by an actor for 1953 were: *William Holden in "Stalag 17"-(won) Marlon Brando, "Julius Caesar" Richard Burton, "The Robe"-(this shoulda' been *Tracy's slot, in my view) Montgomery Clift, "From Here to Eternity" & Burt Lancaster, "From Here to Eternity" THANK YOU
