Several of the films are off-limits to Canadian viewers.

For reasons which have never been fully explained, TCM can't air any short films from the Hal Roach Studios. This includes films by Charley Chase and Laurel & Hardy.

This means that we Canadians will miss out on "Dollar Dizzy", "The Pip From Pittsburgh", "Sons of the Desert", and "The Music Box".

Instead, we will have "Hollywood Party" (1937), "Musical Movieland", "Cracked Nuts", "Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer's The Songwriters Revue", and "Gems of MGM" inflicted upon us.

It remains to be seen how slapsticky the musical films will actually be. "Hollywood Party" and "Cracked Nuts" are rare comedy shorts, but they can't hold a candle to "Sons of the Desert" and "The Music Box".

Luckily, all of the blacked-out films except "Dollar Dizzy" are on YouTube.

That should read, "For reasons which have never been fully explained, TCM *Canada* can't air any short films from the Hal Roach Studios."

And, right out of the gate, Canadian viewers get shafted.

Instead of the scheduled film, we get "MGM's Big Parade of Comedy". Why???

Why can't TCM show the scheduled compilation film in Canada? It's not a Laurel & Hardy short. In fact, it's not a short at all. So why is it censored here?

Isn't it safe to assume the reason is that there are access right issues?   I.e.  the same reason that explains why other films are NOT shown?

I highly doubt the reason WHY,  is that TCM's programmers like pulling the wings off flies.
