NipkowDisc
great great film with don murray a laugh riot who steals the film but then torwards the end it goes awry with robert bray, ranger cory from lassie, beating up poor bo. the rest of the film has our hero abase himself so an overrated marilyn monroe warms up to him. now, how it SHOULD of ended is sweet hope lange, seeing him humiliated and dejected, comes to his aid to comfort him and offer her true warm solace... THEN seeing this, 'cherie' suddenly has a change of heart and there is a battle of wills and sweet hope lange wins!... "you had your chance! bo would have done ANYTHING for you but all you could do was see him beaten and humliated. he's with me now you cut-rate jezebel!" darkblue
Bus Stop Shoulda Ended Better Yeah - Marilyn should've finally gotten hold of a gun somehow and shot her abductor right in the chest - three times - killing him once and for all. Now that's a good ending.

Now that's a good ending. I agree. The guy was a jerk and being shot dead would have made the film a lot better.

darkblue
i thought you're against guns? In real life? I live in Canada. We have gun control here. But American movies are loaded with guns and "millions" of Americans have been killed by them in those movies. Very entertaining, doncha think?

Now that's a good ending. Yeah, but knowing Hollywood, they'd have probably had her do a "gun twirl" and ruin the WHOLE MOVIE! Sepiatone
EricJ
Seriously, the play was supposed to be about Cherie's no-exit singer life, and how whether she likes it or not, Bo is probably as good as it's ever going to get-- But the studio downplayed the character's frowsiness for Marilyn's niceness, and Bo just comes off as a Beverly Hillbillies rerun:"Heheh, bad news, Miss Hathaway, Jethro wants to marry Marilyn Monroe!" Arturo
I like darkblue's ending. But in real life, Don Murray did get Hope Lange; they married after meeting on the set.
