Forests 'held their breath' during global warming hiatus, research shows

Global forest ecosystems, widely considered to act as the lungs of the planet, 'held their breath' during the most recent occurrence of a warming hiatus, new research has shown.

The international study examined the full extent to which these vital ecosystems performed as a carbon sink from 1998-2012 - the most recent recorded period of global warming slowdown.

The study shows that, during extended period of slower warming, worldwide forests 'breathe in' carbon dioxide through photosynthesis, but reduced the rate at which they 'breathe out'—or release the gas back to the atmosphere.

The team believes the crucial study offers a significant breakthrough for future climate modelling, which is used to predict just how different ecosystems will respond to rising global temperatures.

Someone had been watching too many Lord of The Rings movies. The trees held their breath to save us from global warming, who would ever believe this nut.

The official measure of poverty today is indeed historically high. For the past several years, about 15 percent of Americans have been poor according to this measure. There have been only a couple of occasions in the past half-century when the official rate has reached that level.

All thanks to Obama. Anyone who goes golfing all the time instead of working shouldn't expect much to improve, and it didn't.

Over the last 25 years the poverty rate has bounced between 11% and 15%.

It went up to 15% at the close of the Great Recession and in 2015 was down

to 13.5%. Your idiotic obsession with Obama's golfing has nothing to do with

the poverty rate.

POLITIFACT: California Has The Nation’s Highest Poverty Rate

This week, State Assembly Republican Leader Chad Mayes called poverty California’s No. 1 priority during a forum of legislative leaders in Sacramento.

Mayes, who represents parts of San Bernardino and Riverside counties, claimed the state’s poverty rate is higher than any state in the nation when considering factors such as cost-of-living.

"If you look at the official poverty measure in California, we’re about average with the rest of the country," Mayes said. "But if you use the supplemental poverty measure, we are in the lead. We have the highest poverty rate in the nation -- higher than New Mexico, higher than any of the southern states, Louisiana, Alabama, higher than Idaho."

**********************************************************************

California has the most polluted environment, and also has the highest poverty rate in the country. What an amazing job the Democrats have done to that state, when they control the whole thing. No wonder we suffered under Obama for 8 years.

Savvy NASA is Giving Super Bowl Fans a Glimpse of Mars At Discovery Green

NASA is taking advantage of the fact that the Super Bowl is right here in Houston by setting up a ride that blasts people to Mars and then hurtles them back to terra firma, right here in Houston.

Well, via a simulation, that is.

NASA partnered with the Houston Super Bowl Host Committee to put together "Future Flight," a Six Flags Astroworld-reminiscent tower drop ride equipped with a virtual reality simulation that lets people pretend they're on a journey to the Red Planet.

The participants are actually strapped to chairs, sporting pairs of heavy goggles and being lifted up a six-story tower constructed in the middle of downtown's Discovery Green, just before being summarily dropped, but they're seeing Mars through their virtual reality headsets.

I have a feeling this is the closest thing we get to being on Mars for a long, long time.

Scientists plan to march on Washington — but where will it get them?

A few months from now, thousands of scientists will leave their labs and take to the streets to rally on behalf of publicly funded, openly communicated, evidence-based research.

At least, that's the vision of the organizers of the March for Science, which is slated to take place on April 22 — Earth Day.

Conceived in the wake of the successful Women's March on Washington, and galvanized by recent news that President Trump's administration was instructing government researchers not to communicate with the public, the plan includes a march in the District and dozens of satellite demonstrations. So far, marches are in the planning stages in more than 100 cities in at least 11 countries.

*******************************************************************

These "scientists" will be marching to keep the scam going and the money flowing, and now they are turning to political protest out of desperation. It actually proves who they are, activists who lie to get public funding for their political causes.

Report: U.S. scientists manipulated data to make global warming seem worse

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) used “unverified” data for a landmark study that claimed the planet was warming much faster than expected, a whistleblower said.

NOAA in 2015 made a “blatant attempt to intensify the impact” of global warming to eliminate the “pause” in temperature rise since 1998, Dr. John Bates, the former principal scientist at the National Climatic Data Center in Asheville, North Carolina, told the Daily Mail.

The study was meant “to discredit the notion of a global warming hiatus and rush to time the publication of the paper to influence national and international deliberations on climate policy,” Bates said.

Bates said his objections to the study were ignored by his superiors, who let scientists make “decisions and scientific choices that maximized warming and minimized documentation” in advance of a major United Nations climate summit in Paris.

*******************************************************************

How much more proof do people need to see this has all been a lie from the beginning. Just like they use data from 1880 to try and prove global warming is man-made. It's all been a scam for money.

NASA to Explore an Asteroid Containing Enough Mineral Wealth to Collapse the World Economy

We think of asteroids as giant useless rocks floating around space. Perhaps it’s a good place to hide the Millennium Falcon or a worrisome cause of a cataclysmic event. Though most are hunks of rock or ice, some are replete with iron, platinum, gold, and other precious minerals. Two NASA missions plan to explore such an asteroid, scheduled for 2021 and 2023. These are part of NASA’s Discovery Program, a class of mission considered inexpensive, capping out at $450 million apiece.

Scientists will first launch a robotic spacecraft named Lucy in October 2021. The plan is to reach a Massachusetts-size asteroid, named 16 Psyche, which is made up almost entirely of nickel and iron—much like the Earth’s core. Scientists say this metallic monolith is so enormous, it’s considered a minor planet. Psyche is about 130 miles (210 km.) in diameter. It’s located in the Trojan asteroid belt, between Jupiter and Saturn.

This kind of asteroid has never been studied before, according to Thomas Zurbuchen. He’s the associate administrator at NASA's Science Mission Directorate in Washington. "This is what Discovery Program missions are all about,” Zurbuchen said, “boldly going to places we've never been to enable groundbreaking science." Lucy will take six years to get there. Once it’s arrived, it will spend 20 months mapping and studying the asteroid.

*********************************************************************

With all of the asteroids out there, NASA has to pick one six years away from us, lol. And they wonder why no one follows what they do anymore.

they are disconnected scientists like the disconnected diplomats at the UN.

what they are unaware of was that national imperative fired up by the words of JFK which gave national purpose to the space age era of the 1960s

these nasa scientists just doan get that. they're the only ones doing mental cartwheels over nickel and iron.

schtootzes and simps the lot of 'em, their academic learning not withstanding.

what national imperative do they think their firing up?

Well in some respect that is true,  say for example recover all the gold within the Earth's interior, it's value would drop with economic catastropic results.  Precious metals are valued for their rarity, not the abundance.

A little trivia, back during / before the 19th century aluminum was considered a precious metal.

The treasured metal capped the Washington Monument.

Go back in time and tell them, you know it won't be long aluminum will be so plentiful, one will be wrapping their lunch with it and discarding it in the trash.

Guess what would they think...

Japanese Cargo Craft Falls to Earth After Failed Space-Junk Experiment

A Japanese cargo craft fell back to Earth Sunday (Feb. 5) after delivering supplies to the International Space Station (ISS) and attempting a novel space-junk experiment.

After departing from the space station on Jan. 27, HTV-6 spent a week orbiting the Earth 12 miles (19 kilometers) below and 23 miles (37 km) ahead of the ISS to keep a safe distance while testing out a new technology for removing space junk, or orbital debris, from Earth's orbit.

The Kounotori Integrated Tether Experiment (KITE) flunked its first orbital test when a glitch prevented it from properly deploying a 700-meter-long (2,300 feet) electrodynamic tether made to grab pieces of space junk, the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) reported Tuesday (Jan. 31).

Exposed: How world leaders were duped into investing billions over manipulated global warming data

The Mail on Sunday today reveals astonishing evidence that the organisation that is the world’s leading source of climate data rushed to publish a landmark paper that exaggerated global warming and was timed to influence the historic Paris Agreement on climate change.

A high-level whistleblower has told this newspaper that America’s National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) breached its own rules on scientific integrity when it published the sensational but flawed report, aimed at making the maximum possible impact on world leaders including Barack Obama and David Cameron at the UN climate conference in Paris in 2015.

The report claimed that the ‘pause’ or ‘slowdown’ in global warming in the period since 1998 – revealed by UN scientists in 2013 – never existed, and that world temperatures had been rising faster than scientists expected. Launched by NOAA with a public relations fanfare, it was splashed across the world’s media, and cited repeatedly by politicians and policy makers.

But the whistleblower, Dr John Bates, a top NOAA scientist with an impeccable reputation, has shown The Mail on Sunday irrefutable evidence that the paper was based on misleading, ‘unverified’ data.

*********************************************************

We all knew this was a scam, now NOAA has been shown to lie about global warming.

Global warming could cause sea levels to rise higher than the height of a three-story building, study suggests

The last time ocean temperatures were this warm, sea levels were up to nine metres higher than they are today, according to the findings of a new study, which were described as “extremely worrying” by one expert.

The researchers took samples of sediment from 83 different sites around the world, and these “natural thermometers” enabled them to work out what the sea surface temperature had been more than 125,000 years ago.

This revealed that over the course of some 4,000 years the oceans had got about 0.5C warmer, reaching about the same temperatures as are found now – after a similar increase achieved largely as a result of human-induced climate change in little over a century.

If Global Warming Is Real, Why Do Government Scientists Have To Keep Cheating?

A few decades back, an upstanding member of the global warming alarmist community said that if the public was going to take the threat of man-caused climate change seriously, the alarmists were going to have to exaggerate the evidence.

It was in 1989 that Stephen Schneider wrote in Discover magazine that in order "to capture the public's imagination . . . we have to offer up scary scenarios, make simplified, dramatic statements, and make little mention of any doubts we might have."

Let's not forget that the late climatologist was first a believer in global cooling in the 1970s. He was worried that a new ice age was coming.

Of course the alarmist community has followed Schneider's script. It's spent much of the last three decades trying to spook the public into a panic.

They want the free money they get for doing it, it's as simple as that.

Study: Nearly All of Berlin’s Left-Wing Protesters Live With Parents

A new study has found that the vast majority of left-wing protesters arrested in Berlin, Germany in recent years live at home with their parents.

Ninety-two percent of demonstrators arrested for politically-related protests between 2003 and 2013 were found to still be living with their parents, and a third of them were unemployed, according to a report published in the German newspaper Bild that was flagged Tuesday by the Daily Mail.

The study was conducted from 2003 to 2013 and based on 873 arrestees from that period. The statistics came from the Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution.

Scientists can’t seem to figure out how ancient Mars got so warm

After four and a half years of exploring Mars, NASA’s Curiosity rover has made a new discovery that only deepens a long-standing mystery about the Red Planet — namely, how the world used to be so wet. Pretty much all Mars scientists agree that billions of years ago the planet had flowing rivers and lakes on its surface. But there’s a problem: no one can quite explain how ancient Mars was warm enough back then to support liquid water. And Curiosity is unearthing clues that only make things more confusing.

Since its landing in a region called Gale Crater, the rover has found critical signs that liquid water once pooled on the Martian surface. Curiosity has been scouring over hundreds of meters of sedimentary rocks that are thought to have been deposited by a lake that existed in the crater 3.5 billion years ago. But there’s an issue with timing: back when Mars supposedly had water on its surface, the Sun wasn’t cranking out that much heat. It’s a conundrum known as the “faint young Sun paradox,” and it’s the idea that our Solar System’s star was only producing about 70 percent of the energy as it does today. That means there must have been some other factor that warmed Mars up enough so that surface water existed as a liquid.

******************************************************************

How ironic, they can't figure it out on Mars, but know exactly why Earth warms up. More proof they only see what they want to.
