The 6,000 year old universe worked for a long time. But then it became

harder and harder for believers to support it in the face of what science

was proving, so they...evolved. So that was dropped, though a minority

still believe in it. Similar to the six days of creation. A day was 24 hours.

Then that wouldn't work either, so a day became rather elastic, could

be 24 hours, could be a couple billion years. When science advances,

that old time religion sometimes has to retreat. :(

Dang it, man.  A day is a day.  The forefathers or scribblers or whatever you want to call them said it was 7 days, not 7 billion years.  The bible thumpers are just trying to weasel out of their conundrum now by saying the bible shouldn't be taken literally.  They do want it every which way. :)

What a difference a day makes. But yes, as it has become harder and harder

to take some things in the Bible literally, certain "allowances" must be made.

Most believers can navigate that, though there are still some fundamentalists

who take the good book just as it is. For them, a day is still 24 hours, no more,

no less.

According to the bible the universe is only a few thousand years old, is it not?

the events in the garden of eden occurred six thousand years ago but the genesis language is far from unequivocal on exactly how long ago the earth was created. it is my belief that genesis describes a reconstituting of the earth's surface after it was devastated by the war in heaven between god and the rebelling angels led by lucifer. I say that because there is a psalm which contains language predating genesis saying that on the day God created the earth the angels in heaven shouted for joy for it was exceedingly beautiful.

why would the angels rejoice of an incomplete planet earth with darkness upon the face of it's deep??? because genesis is not the original creation of the earth. also it is important to consider that the bible is not written in chronological order. that is man's mistaken assumption.

That is a common misconception based on one cleric's misunderstanding of older cultures and their usage of terms. The Bible provides no dates.

It is in many ways similar to the statement that Medieval alchemists produced gold from base metals. To see the truth in this requires the knowledge and understanding that: 'gold' at that time was defined as: "a malleable yellow metal which does not tarnish." It did not at the time mean: "a transition metal with atomic number seventy-nine and atomic weight of ~197."

Bingo.  We have a winner, no stupid science there.

a day is a day?

are they? at the poles the days and nights are six months long, are they not?

"But do not overlook this one fact, beloved, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years,

and a thousand years as one day."

2 Peter 3:8

You're right, I'm sure it took less than 7 days to create you because they left out their formula for the brain.

Well in the end what is the point of arguing about the intricacies of HS?

You introduced the topic. You derided it because you lack a basic understanding of it.

Would you be offended if I called you a nice man? Would your perception change if you learned that I am working with Medieval lexicons and so may be using a 13th Century definition of the word: 'nice'?

Would you deride as HS a book which states that striking two hammers together can destroy a city?

RIP Juicero, the $400 venture-backed juice machine

It sounds like America’s favorite $400 juice machine will be no longer.

“After selling over a million Produce Packs, we must let you know that we are suspending the sale of the Juicero Press and Produce Packs immediately,” reads the company blog post.

Juicero will also be giving people money back. “For the next 90 days, we are offering refunds for your purchase of the Juicero Press,” according to the note.

Founded by Doug Evans, San Francisco-based Juicero had raised more than $118 million in funding from prominent VCs like Google Ventures and Kleiner Perkins. Carmelo Anthony also invested through his Melo7 Tech venture fund. Even The Campbell Soup Company threw money at it. Juicero started raising funding in 2013 and launched 16 months ago.

The company was subject to mockery, particularly after a Bloomberg piece showed that the juice packets could be squeezed by hand and did not require a fancy machine.

********************************************************

This was a horribly designed product and was destined to go out of business. They already have better machines out there that you fill yourself with produce and squeeze in a better press. Once the "investors" found out it was all over, no more funding for Juicero.

Well at least we know that however old the universe is, mankind dates

from the Garden of Eden, six thousand years ago. Too funny. Then

Noah came along and God had to start all over again. Not a very

intelligent design.

Of course medieval alchemists had no knowledge about the atomic

number and atomic weight of gold. But I have no doubt that they

meant the same thing then as we mean today by gold, Excluding

those medieval charlatans who tried to pass something off as

gold that wasn't.

After the incredibly busy 7 days that God had in Genesis the bible picks up with the family tree of Adam and Eve and scholars (if one can call them that) have added up all the begats and arrived at the age of the universe which is no more than a few thousand years old.

All of the begats are listed so there is no misconception I'm afraid.  Speaking literally of course.

What is a day to God???

The Bible is not a science book and doesn't explain the "how".  Could primitive man understand the workings of the universe?

I thought I was saying something that the bible thumpers purported to be true.  I bow to the chap who knows all about Satan and the Angels before man even existed.  The same chap who doesn't believe in science or evolution.

Looks like he's not worried about rising sea levels.

I have at all times deep suspicion when I hear of anticipated purchases by high-profile people. It would show very poor judgement on their part to reveal such plans to any person who might leak them to the press. It is also that it makes financial sense to make such purchases under a straw buyer.

I must wonder if this is a ruse so that attention is diverted from their actual wish to buy oceanfront property in Nevada.

Is There A Limit To How Long Humans Can Live?

Researchers claim that a normal human lifespan actually has a limit. The maximum human lifespan is about 115 years, according to their findings.

Maximum Human Lifespan

Researchers from Tilburg University and Erasmus University Rotterdam tackled an already controversial subject when they took on human lifespan as their topic of choice. Though studies on the topic have been done before, researchers now utilized the extreme value theory in order to find out just how long humans can actually live. Perhaps also as a way to clear things up.

This has been a controversial topic ever since a similar study was published in 2016, which also stated the cap for human lifespan. The claim sparked many opposing reactions from other scientists and researchers who found their statistics flawed, and who firmly believe that the current evidence points to no known specific limit.

**************************************************************

All they had to do was say that we now have a limited lifespan due to global warming and these "scientists" would have all fallen over themselves to agree with it. Instead this is controversial.

It flies in the face of the plans that Bill Gates and other elites have to REDUCE the population.

Camera lenses literally melted during the solar eclipse

Will people ever learn?

A camera rental company found its cameras and lenses severely damaged after people took them to shoot the solar eclipse last month.

This, despite warning users not to point their cameras directly at the sun.

Online rental shop LensRentals told renters that solar filters had to be attached to lenses to protect them and camera sensors during the eclipse.

Naturally, some people didn't listen.

*******************************************************

You mean online renters are as bad as all the rest? I'm shocked.
