Doomsday conspiracist reschedules the apocalypse

The man whose biblical doomsday claim had people worried about Sept. 23, 2017, is not backing down.

The world did not end last month, and David Meade, a self-described "specialist in research and investigations," is saying that's exactly what he had expected. Now, he is focusing on another date, Oct. 15, 2017, which he claims is the beginning of the world's destruction.

It is "the most important date of this century or millennium," Meade wrote on his website. The action starts that day, he claimed, when the world will enter what's called a seven-year tribulation period, a fairly widespread evangelical belief that for seven years, catastrophic events would wreak havoc on Earth.

"Hold on and watch - wait until the middle of October and I don't believe you'll be disappointed," Meade wrote, before going on to promote his book, which he claims has all the details.

This guy has a future as a global warming scientist, he keeps changing his predictions.

Santa dead, archaeologists say

First the good news:

Whoever told you that Santa Claus was an impostor with a fake beard collecting a Christmastime check at the mall or a lie cooked up by your parents to trick you into five measly minutes of quiet was, at minimum, misinformed.

The bad news: Santa Claus is definitely dead.

Archaeologists in southern Turkey say they have discovered the tomb of the original Santa Claus, also known as St. Nicholas, beneath his namesake church near the Mediterranean Sea.

Saint Nicholas of Myra (now Demre) was known for his anonymous gift-giving and generosity. People believed he’d put coins in the shoes of anyone who left them out for him on his feast day, Dec. 6.

**********************************************

Now they are going after Santa Claus as well. What is the world coming to.

Love the scene in the "Private Eyes" (1980) where Dr Tart and Inspector Winship came across the skeletal remains of Santa.

Dr Tart....It's Santa! No wonder he didn't come!

Winship....Is there anything you don't believe in?

Antarctic geologist accused of sexually harassing, assaulting female researchers

Two women have accused a prominent geologist of sexual harassment in a complaint to Boston University, Science magazine reports. The alleged harassment, which the university is investigating, took place two decades ago during field expeditions to remote parts of Antarctica.

According to a complaint filed by the women, David Marchant, who leads BU’s Antarctic Research Group, allegedly called female researchers misogynistic slurs, shoved them and blew painful volcanic ash into one graduate student’s eyes.

He also taunted female travelers, several women said, according to Science writer Meredith Wadman. “I’m going to break you down and build you up in my image,” they recalled him saying.

The accusations are the latest to call attention to sexist, racist or other degrading treatment in scientific arenas, an issue that has arisen in classrooms, laboratories, conferences and the field.

************************************************

Now they are going after the "scientists". You reap what you sow.

Conservationists take nine flights a year, despite knowing danger to environment, study shows

Conservationists may preach about the importance of going green to save the planet, but most have a carbon footprint which is virtually no different to anyone else, a new study has shown.

Scientists as Cambridge University were keen to find out whether being fully informed about global warming, plastic in the ocean or the environmental impact of eating meat, triggers more ethical behavior.

But when they examined the lifestyles of conservation scientists they discovered most still flew frequently – an average of nine flights a year – ate meat or fish approximately five times a week and rarely purchased carbon offsets for their own emissions.

They were also less green in traveling to work than medics, and kept more dogs and cats. A recent study suggested pets are a hefty ecological burden. It takes more than two acres of grazing pasture to keep a medium-sized dog fed with meat, while the eco-footprint of a cat is similar to a Volkswagen Golf.

************************************************

This isn't surprising to most people, just seeing how the fake politicians behave while claiming they are "environmentalists".

NASA Astronauts Just Responded To B.o.B's Plans To Prove The Earth Is Flat, And It's Amazing

Last week, rapper B.o.B made headlines after setting up a GoFundMe page to finance a rather bizarre project; sending a satellite into space to prove that the Earth is flat. His plans involve sending a satellite "as far into space as possible" to take a photo of the Earth, which he believes will look like a map.

Needless to say, it's utterly absurd. There are already countless photos of the Earth from space, all of them showing a big old round globe. No amount of asking questions like this on Twitter will change that:

The cities in the background are approx. 16miles apart... where is the curve ?

So did all of this evidence directly tweeted at B.o.B from people who have seen the Earth from space convince him? Of course not. Not even close. B.o.B seems to believe it's evidence that he's getting close to the truth.

**************************************************************

Isn't it funny how NASA has trouble proving the Earth isn't flat but completely believes in global warming without scientific proof?

Flat-earthers are struggling to explain the eclipse, and it’s brilliant

The flat-earthers – a group not known for their grasp on science or even basic logic – have been struggling to explain the recent solar eclipse, much to the delight of everyone else.

One story coming out of the subgroup is that the media (which is controlled by Nasa, naturally) is telling people not to look directly at the eclipse for fear they will see how the government creates it.

Another asserts that while the earth ‘rotates east to west’ (wording that will surely make astronomers see red), the eclipse will be moving west to east… so it’s definitely fake.

*******************************************

This is the same logic used with global warming, but everyone loves that in the media.

America’s Obesity Epidemic Reaches Record High, New Report Says

America's obesity crisis appears more unstoppable than ever.

A troubling new report released Friday by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention shows that almost 40 percent of American adults and nearly 20 percent of adolescents are obese — the highest rates ever recorded for the U.S.

"It's difficult to be optimistic at this point," said Dr. Frank Hu, chair of the Department of Nutrition at the Harvard School of Public Health. "The trend of obesity has been steadily increasing in both children and adults despite many public health efforts to improve nutrition and physical activity."

The continued weight increase in the youngest Americans is especially worrisome for long-term health. One in five adolescents, ages 12–19; one in five kids, ages 6–11, and and one in ten preschoolers, ages 2–5 are considered obese, not just overweight.

********************************************

So much for the theory of everyone dying from global warming, we were all suppose to be starving.

I'm a proponent of the theory that everything we learned about "healthy eating" in the 1970s and 1980s was wrong, and we are just beginning to learn this now.  (ie. "certain processed foods might be healthier than natural whole foods", "salt is bad for you", "whole butter made from pasteurized cream is bad for you", "egg yolks are bad for you", etc).  Okey-doke, let's not all rush over to Snopes at the same time now.

'Gas from clams equal to 20,000 cows'

Scientists have found clams and worms in the Baltic Sea are giving off as much gas as 20,000 dairy cows.

They are worried because large amounts of methane and nitrous oxides are being released from the bacteria in their guts.

The discovery of these greenhouse gases means they will need to be taken into account when tackling global warming.

A Cardiff and Stockholm universities' study found 10% of methane emissions from the Baltic Sea came from clams.

The study's co-author Dr Ernest Chi Fru, from Cardiff University's School of Earth and Ocean Sciences, said: "What is puzzling is that the Baltic Sea makes up only about 0.1% of Earth's oceans, implying that globally, apparently harmless bivalve animals at the bottom of the world's oceans may in fact be contributing ridiculous amounts of greenhouse gases to the atmosphere that is unaccounted for."

***************************************************

Now you can worry about clams giving off global warming gases and ruining the planet. It doesn't get much more stupid than this.

Jeremy the lefty snail has died a proud papa

Jeremy the lefty snail, who struggled for years to find a compatible mate, has died — but not before leaving behind a healthy brood of bitty babies.

"Whilst it's sad that Jeremy has died, it's also fantastic that we have some offspring and we can begin do some genetics to these that we'd always hoped to do with Jeremy," Angus Davison, a University of Nottingham evolutionary geneticist, told As It Happens host Carol off.

Jeremy, who was found in a compost heap in South West London about a year ago, was a common garden snail with an uncommon feature —  a shell that coiled to the left.

That made it impossible for Jeremy to copulate with a clockwise snail, because "essentially, their bits are in the wrong position," Davison told As It Happens in October 2016.

***************************************

I knew that researchers were supporting lefties. Here is the proof.

China’s first space lab will soon crash to Earth. No one knows where it’ll hit.

Sometime within the next few months, the heavens will come crashing down.

Tiangong 1, which translates to "Heavenly Palace," is China's first space laboratory, launched in September 2011, serving as a prototype for a permanent space station that it aims to eventually build and launch. But six years after it first went into orbit, the 8½-ton laboratory is soon expected to meet a fiery and uncontrolled end, hurtling down to Earth and crashing somewhere — anywhere —  on the planet.

In September 2016, Chinese officials confirmed that they had lost control of the space lab and that it would crash into Earth sometime in the latter half of 2017. In May, China told the United Nations that the lab would reenter Earth between October and April 2018.

Where exactly the craft will fall is anyone's guess. Even slight changes in atmospheric conditions can alter the landing site "from one continent to the next," McDowell told the Guardian.

**********************************************

Hopefully it hits North Korea.

Is climate change Hollywood's new supervillain?

In 2004, when climate change was still called global warming, it was considered sensational enough to get top billing in The Day After Tomorrow, a city-smashing blockbuster by disaster master Roland Emmerich. But the incremental death march of the real thing was considered a little too slow for Independence Day’s king of kablooey. So impatient was he to bring forth a biblical flood and subsequent ice age that was epic enough to swallow the Statue of Liberty, Emmerich conspired to make his cataclysm happen in days, not decades, courtesy of a cosmically unlucky (and scientifically unlikely) flash freeze.

The forthcoming eco-thriller Geostorm optimistically suggests that we could circumvent the cataclysmic heavy weather caused by climate change if only we tasked someone like scientist-astronaut Gerard Butler to invent a network of weather-controlling satellites. But when that system malfunctions, the planet reaps the whirlwind (not to mention mega-storms and tidal waves).

In the forthcoming Downsizing, Oscar-winning writer-director Alexander Payne imagines a near future where eco-conscious Norwegians have developed a sci-fi shrink-ray that can zap people, such as stressed everyman Matt Damon, down to just five inches in height.

***********************************

Of coarse they want to brainwash everyone with global warming propaganda, too bad the latest movie Geostorm is bombing.

People can still be conscious after they have ‘died’, researcher says

People who have been declared dead can sometimes remember events after ‘death’ – and there’s evidence to prove it.

Dr Sam Parnia of the University of Southampton has conducted large studies in the subject – and said that some patients have even heard their own death being declared.

Dr Parnia told Live Science: ‘They’ll describe watching doctors and nurses working and they’ll describe having awareness of full conversations, of visual things that were going on, that would otherwise not be known to them.’

It may be to do with the way we define death, which is based on when the heart no longer beats, driving blood to the brain.

Dr Parnia says, ‘Technically, that’s how you get the time of death – it’s all based on the moment when the heart stops.

**************************************************

Good luck doing a study with volunteers for this one.
