Jamie Dimon: "There should have been a pandemic playbook”

… … It was 69 pages. It went step-by-step into how the federal government should respond.
It was color-coded, too.

The Trump team didn't read it.
<_<

Let me guess, it was prepared and maintained by the people and department that he eliminated a couple of years ago.

Contrast: Today: Trump attacks the governor of Illinois who's trying desperately to get ventilators to help sick people

February: Trump pardons a former governor of Illinois who tried to shake down a hospital CEO
for a political contribution in exchange for state funding

Major Producer of Hydroxychloroquine Once Paid Michael Cohen Hefty Sum for Access to Trump

"....... It just so happens that one of the largest manufacturers of the drug, Novartis, previously paid Trump’s now-incarcerated former personal attorney Michael Cohen more than $1 million for healthcare policy insight following Trump’s election in 2016........

Trump fires Michael Atkinson, sending a clear message to inspectors general about oversight

Trump doesn’t acknowledge that checks and balances exist.
And as long as Republicans in Congress stand by him, he will continue to do whatever he wants.

Trump asked about the scathing HHS IG report on hospital shortages,

https://www.cnn.com/2020/04/06/politics/department-of-health-and-human-services-shortages/index.html

he repeatedly asks “when was she appointed?” The reporter finds out. Tells trump it was six months ago.

Trump says “huh” and moves on. Does not answer.

Trump does take coronavirus seriously: He views it as a personal assault on his legacy.

The only reason he isn’t honest about his administration’s response seems to be because Fox News and other conservative outlets keep giving him cover to say anything he wants.

They can't give him cover for those 10,000 Americans who are already dead from the pandemic.

Illinois official on race for medical equipment

An almost unbelievable story about the competition states are facing to get critical medical supplies. Illinois Assistant Comptroller Ellen Andres tells Katy Tur just what she went through to get N-95 masks.

Trump is talking about lots of things being "very powerful."

Including transport planes bringing medical supplies.

"Big planes. Very big. Very powerful."

[Unclear what makes a plane "powerful," but whatever.]

Very big, very powerful

 very very very--

Sounds like the word "very" was the 1st grade word of the week.

"Big" was the 1st grade word last week.

70 days. That interval should be burned into the mind of every American voter. Tweet it, say it, whenever you can, to whomever you know.

Those days cost lives.

70 days.

A thread on our month-long investigation:

1.  Trump team got clear warning Jan. 3 of outbreak in Wuhan; within days the virus was mentioned in Trump’s president’s daily brief.

2. HHS Sec Azar sought to brief Trump on Jan. 18, but Trump cut him off, lit into him about vaping issues before Azar could mention virus.

3. Task force spent early days consumed with travel bans, repatriating Americans, paying scant attention to testing or supplies problems that have become major crisis to U.S.

4. [NSC adviser Matt] Pottinger pushed in Jan. to block travel from Europe, but Mnuchin/others blocked him, citing concern for economy. Travel continued for weeks.

5. Problems at CDC lab so extensive that an FDA official blew up on a call, saying lab should be “shut down”

6. Officials at CDC/HHS/FDA have been derailed repeatedly by demands from Jared Kushner for ill-conceived corona projects.

7. In midst of corona crisis, Trump found time for at least 6 golf outings and 8 political rallies crammed with people.

8. GOP polling in March showed Trump’s base putting itself in real peril by ignoring warnings about virus spread. Republicans far more likely than Dems to ignore social distancing demands, etc.

9. U.S. now on course for more people to die from coronavirus than in wars of Korea, Vietnam, Iraq and Afghanistan combined.

70 days

You can argue with @MaxBoot and his judgment that this is the worst president in history, but there can be no argument that this is easily the stupidest human being ever to be in that office. I have taught high school students who could handle this job better.

I think it's worth asking again--and seriously--what exactly do we have a 25th amendment for if not for this?

President Trump's press conference calls out two enemies ...

Nipkow ,  you must have a death wish.  Red States and Counties will NOT be spared, and this lying Effing Moron is unwilling or unable to do anything meaningful to mitigate the ravages or the pandemic.

The President is deranged and incompetent.  He proves it in his nightly televised rants.  He needs to be removed under the 25th Amendment, and taken away in a straitjacket.

President Trump has removed acting Defense Department inspector general Fine from his position as chair of Congress’s $2.2 trillion coronavirus aid package oversight board.
==================================================

The sudden removal & replacement of Acting IG Glenn Fine is part of a disturbing pattern of retaliation by the President

against independent overseers fulfilling their duties to conduct oversight on behalf of the American people.

Let's be blunt: Trump's depraved attack on the IG at HHS

displays a mindset that could lead to more deaths.

It's *hospitals* who told the IG that they badly need lifesaving equipment.

Yet all Trump can hear is an effort to make *him* look bad.
-----------------------------------------------------

Trump just tweeted that the IG report is a "fake dossier."

****, this is the HOSPITALS telling Trump how he can help them SAVE AMERICAN LIVES!
