President Trump just showed a video in the WH briefing room defending this response to the coronavirus.

The video was essentially a campaign video with cherry picked cable videos aimed at only telling the president's side.

Has any president ever aired a campaign ad from the briefing room? Historians?

It would be nice to have a president who used an emergency briefing to explain how he's going to protect the American people instead of how he's going to protect his reputation.

These CNN chyrons offer a persuasive rationale for why the network should stop airing Trump's coronavirus grievance session. The images are from half an hour ago -- and CNN is still airing the briefing anyway. https://mediamatters.org/coronavirus-covid-19/cnn-chyrons-give-persuasive-rationales-cnn-stop-airing-trumps-coronavirus

Clearly what Fauci said and what the NY Times wrote about delays in taking action has gotten to Trump, who is doing a detailed - date by date statement of what happened when and how "I took this action early".

No amount of name-calling, media-bashing or other histrionics can change the history. The places where the virus has been relatively less destructive are those where governors, following science, imposed strict measures well before the @POTUS was willing to acknowledge the truth.

I am far from a knee-jerk critic of Trump, but this press briefing has to be one of the most embarrassing moments of his presidency. Just an utterly unhinged, childish temper tantrum.

Trump should be confidently reassuring the American people, and he actually has some good news to deliver. Instead he is essentially screaming YOU ARE A LIE at the reporters.

If you have had the virus or lost someone to it; if you have lost your job or your business is threatened; if you are worried about what the world will look like when we emerge from this- or wondering when that will be-do you find this “briefing” at all comforting or useful?

This is frightening to many people who are already terrified by the daily events.

To see National leadership so out of control, so mercenarily egotistical, it's difficult to have a positive attitude about the outcome of the situation.

But governors, regional and local public servants and Civic leaders have taken control of their own Destinies here.

After All, America belongs to the people and individuals in Washington only represent us the American people.

What is to become of this country will be what we decide and what we make it to be--

not a cabal of oligarchical billionaires who are in it just for themselves.

Why do reputable news organizations carry these daily Trump press conferences live?

They are filled with misinformation and propaganda. From the President himself, no less.

The country would be far better served and informed if they used highlights later.

Enough is enough.

Pres Trump is accusing WHO of what many have accused Trump of doing.

He says the organization failed to identify pandemic early, wasted time, took too long to declare it a public health emergency
& praised China for transparency.

Note: Trump praised China's transparency on 1/24.

I hope just one reporter asks Trump:

“please explain how you have total authority
but take no responsibility?”

That not just oxymoronic . . . it’s plain old moronic.

UNBELIEVABLE! Trump has found his COVID-19 scapegoat: the World Health Organization

He’s projecting his lackadaisical response to the coronavirus to the W.H.O.

He’s cutting off W.H.O. funding in the middle of a world pandemic!

Totally irresponsible. How many will this kill?

Trump Invokes Defense Production Act to Mass-Produce Gallons of Spray Tan

WASHINGTON (The Borowitz Report)—At long last invoking the Defense Production Act, Donald J. Trump has ordered the nation’s factories to begin mass-producing gallons of spray tan.

Speaking at the White House on Tuesday, Trump said that, because millions of Americans have been forced to remain indoors, the country’s stockpiles of fake-tan reserves have fallen to “dangerously low” levels.

“I sent Mike Pence out to buy some yesterday, and he went to store after store and they were all out,” Trump said. “It’s a disgraceful situation.”

Trump said that, although he had been reluctant to invoke the D.P.A., “People are going to lose their tans within days if nothing is done.”

Under the order, the specific hue of spray tan that Trump has demanded will be pumped out by retrofitted factories that normally manufacture orange paint.

White House sources confirmed that Trump has also invoked the Defense Production Act to manufacture Sharpies, yellow hair dye, and one eighteen-hole indoor golf course.

trump has got to do something about that Telltale white line on his forehead when the wind blows and that Telltale white line around his neck when he's in  leisure attire.

Here he is, married to a former professional model, and he doesn't know a thing about proper makeup application. Tisk tisk.....

That would be a definite improvement.  Even with the pandering from Pence and others, NO Trump would be much better briefing.

In a break in protocol, President Trump’s name will appear on the economic stimulus checks that will be mailed to millions of Americans.

His name will appear in the “memo” section because Trump is not legally authorized to sign such disbursements.

-so just what was the point in delaying the checks??

NEW: The U.S. Chamber of Commerce says in a statement that "cutting the WHO’s funding during the COVID-19 pandemic

is not in U.S. interests given the organization’s critical role assisting other countries

Unemployment Money Not Reaching Millions Of People Who Applied

........of the people who managed to get an application in for unemployment benefits by the end of March, more than half — 56% — have so far been processed. And even those people haven't necessarily received their first payment yet.

If there's any complication where a state worker needs to review a case, Stettner says that could take a couple of months. "I'm very worried that that's going to take a very long time for benefits to reach them," he says.

When people do finally get payments, they should be retroactive. "So ... they might get a $7,000 check once their benefits are processed," Stettner says. "But that's cold comfort to people who are trying to make their rent checks, their car payments."....
