The Triumph of Donald Trump

"If you’re a GOP governor,

you could try to guess how Trump will feel in a day or a week or a month,

and do what you THINK he’ll want.

Or you could do what’s in the best interest of public health."

Gov. Cuomo really letting Sen. Mitch McConnell have it. He says that New York State contributes $116 Billion more to the federal budget than it takes from it whereas Kentucky takes more from the federal government than it puts in by more than that amount.

This is true. With the exception of Texas and Alaska which are basically mini petrostates, most red states are on the federal dole, with their budgets infused with blue state tax money. Kind of a different way to think of the term "blue state bailout." https://wallethub.com/edu/states-most-least-dependent-on-the-federal-government/2700/#red-vs-blue

The way GOP leaders like trump and  McConnell talk,

it seems like they don't realize that New Yorkers, Californians Puerto Ricans and even people from Jersey are Americans just like them.

Let’s be clear what Mitch McConnell is saying to our firefighters, EMTs, police officers, teachers and other public servants: you’re expendable.
This is shameful. We must fight this, and we must win.

Trump reportedly watches up to 7 hours of cable news every morning before getting to the Oval Office as late as noon

President Donald Trump is watching hours upon hours of TV while he's cooped up and cranky in the White House as the coronavirus drags on, The New York Times reported.

Trump views up to seven hours of cable news in the morning before arriving to the Oval Office as late as noon, when he finally gets his intelligence briefing, according to The Times.

Former Presidents George W. Bush and Barack Obama typically got their briefings early in the morning. Bush would arrive in the Oval about 6:45 a.m., while Obama became the first president to get an electronic version of the briefing on an iPad so he could read it shortly after waking up before arriving in the Oval about 9 or 10 a.m.

After Trump gets lunch with other officials, phones some governors and world leaders, and wraps up his marathon coronavirus briefings, he goes back to watching TV with close aides to review his performance while enjoying "comfort food" such as french fries and Diet Coke, The Times said.

Then he watches even more TV back in the White House residence area, only occasionally making time for dinner with first lady Melania Trump and his 14-year-old son, Barron, the report said.

As much as he may review the footage of the briefings afterward, The Times said Trump rarely attended the meetings of the White House coronavirus task force that take place beforehand. Even when it comes to the prepared remarks he gives, Trump is seeing them for the first time, making last-minute "tweaks with a Sharpie just before he reads them live," according to The Times.

Unable to hold rallies or visit his other properties to go golfing, Trump has grown increasingly irritable, taking shorter phone calls from outside advisers and echoing frustrations over his media coverage.

"Many friends said they were less likely to call Mr. Trump's cellphone, assuming he does not want to hear their advice," The Times said. "Those who do reach him said phone calls have grown more clipped: Conversations that used to last 20 minutes now wrap up in three."

However, Trump will always take calls from Brad Parscale, his campaign manager who updates him on his internal polling numbers, which have worsened in swing states, according to The Times.

Aides told The Times that Trump was increasingly worried about his reelection prospects and has grown angry with Fox News for not portraying him as positively as before.

In mid-March, Trump's morale bottomed out, with Mike Lindell — known as the My Pillow guy — offering to cheer him up by showing the president a text message from a Democratic friend who thinks Trump is doing a good job, Lindell told the Times.

"I just wanted to give him a little confidence," the My Pillow founder said.

Calling US Postal Service 'A Joke,' Trump Demands Four-Fold Price Hike for Customers Amid Covid-19 Pandemic

Such a move, say critics, "would be a disaster for millions of Americans who rely on USPS."

.........Trump declared that "the Postal Service is a joke, because they're handing out packages for Amazon and other internet companies, and every time they bring a package they lose money on it."

"The post office should raise the price of a package by approximately four times," the president added. "Four or five times, that's what it should be—or let Amazon build their own post office, which would be an impossible thing to do, because the post office is massive and serves every little piece of the country.".........

"It is disgusting that Trump would exploit this pandemic to bust postal unions and privatize the most popular government agency in America.

If we can bail out large corporations, we can damn well save the Postal Service and protect these essential jobs."
—Sen. Bernie Sanders.........

The USPS, for its part, recently reiterated its policy of delivering absentee and mail-in ballots "even if no postage has been affixed or if the postage is insufficient." That statement on Wednesday was widely welcomed, with people across the country thanking the agency for "working to save democracy."........

(THREAD) This thread summarizes the major-media investigative reporting on the TRUMP-CHINA SCANDAL,

a bribery scandal involving Trump's hunt for dirt on Joe Biden in China,

his debts to the Chinese government, and his decision to ignore life-saving COVID-19 intel. ..........

13/ No one disagrees that—per endless major-media reporting—in Russia, Ukraine, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Israel, other nations like Egypt, his pageants and more,

Trump cross-pollinates his operations so that everything works hand-in-glove with everything else to make him money..............

18/ But it's more than just trademarks: Trump *owes the Chinese government hundreds of millions of dollars*. And the Trump-China scandal coincides with some of those debts coming due and some of Trump's income *from* China entering a period of uncertainty..........

Trump Advises States Facing Bankruptcy to Borrow Millions from Their Dads

April 24, 2020

WASHINGTON, D.C. (The Borowitz Report)—Days after the Senate Majority Leader, Mitch McConnell, advised cash-strapped states to declare bankruptcy, Donald J. Trump added that they could avoid such a filing by borrowing millions from their dads.

“These states need to get on the phone with their dads and explain the mess they’ve gotten themselves into,” Trump said. “Their dads might give them a royal chewing out, but the old men will come through with the cash.”

Detailing his plan to return the states to solvency, Trump said, “Their dads can bring the money into the states in a briefcase, or a bag of casino chips. Whatever’s easiest.”

If, however, their dads “won’t cough up the dough,” Trump told the states that bankruptcy is “no big deal.”

“You can file for bankruptcy four, five, six times,” he said. “It works out very strongly and powerfully, and everything will be nice.”

Trump expressed his surprise that it had never occurred to the states to ask their dads for money. “Sometimes it feels like I have to do everything around here,” he complained.

Here we have trump playing doctor by pushing a coronavirus drug that has not been approved by the FDA for that purpose and by insinuating that injecting or ingesting poisonous disinfectants can cure human beings of the coronavirus pandemic.

Looks like, now trump wants to be a doctor without medical qualifications.

But you really can't blame him, because after all , there he is --

president of the United States with no real qualifications for that job either.

Looks like no briefing tonight - even Fox News says @realDonaldTrump “stepped in it” over Thursday’s dangerous suggestion that people could ingest disinfectant.
Other organizations have been less charitable: CNN’s Blitzer says Trump is “chicken” and “probably afraid” of questions
Aides are said to be trying to minimize the possibility of Trump saying dumb things, which helps explain Friday's walkout. Can't imagine this will last: Trump needs to be on TV — it’s oxygen to him. He also thinks it’s helpful when he panders to his base by attacking reporters
Trump's broader problem: His briefings - he has to be the star of the show - are pushing most people further away. An AP poll Thursday said that only 23% of Americans have high levels of trust in what the president is telling the public

Just say a poll in the L.A. Times,  and 47% of Latinos believe Trump.     This was taken a few days back,,  but still,   even before the latest lies,   for Latinos the percentage shouldn't be above 25%.

Throughout this coronavirus crisis, the leader of the free world has turned the daily White House task force briefing into a rambling two-hour self-promoting rally.

He's devoted large chunks of them to trashing the media, attacking political opponents, telling us how great he is, and re-writing history as he tries to defend all the mistakes he's made since the virus first erupted. .........

Trump campaign pans coronavirus panel as

..........."NOW, they are trying to weaponize a new coronavirus committee against me, and if we’re going to withstand this attack, we’ll need to fight back even harder than ever before. This is the third WITCH HUNT in THREE YEARS,” it added.

The campaign said it was raising funds for a new “presidential defense fund” for the president’s “most loyal defenders” to fight “this nasty battle against the Left.”

Trump has repeatedly bristled against oversight efforts by various branches of the government, casting himself as a victim of partisan “hoaxes” and “witch hunts” in an apparent attempt to energize his base.

Congress set up an oversight committee as part of the $2.2 trillion coronavirus relief package signed into law this month to help review the implementation of the mammoth law. ...........

Trump Orders Parade to Celebrate His Hypothetical Act of Heroism in Florida School

WASHINGTON (The Borowitz Report)—Shortly after he declared that he would have run into a Florida high school unarmed to thwart a mass shooting, Donald J. Trump announced that he was planning a parade in Washington, D.C., to celebrate his hypothetical act of heroism.

“Anyone can act with bravery in the moment,” Trump told reporters in the White House. “But it takes a very special kind of hero to tell people about the incredibly brave thing he would have done weeks after the thing happened.”

He added that it was one of his greatest regrets that bone spurs prevented him from serving in the Vietnam War, “because the really courageous things I would have done during that war would have been off the charts.”

“As soon as the Tet Offensive happened, I would have run unarmed right into that mess,” he said. “We probably would have won the war right after I did that.”

Trump said that the parade he was ordering would honor not only him but all of America’s “last responders.”

According to a new poll, Trump’s assertion that he would have run into the Florida high school unarmed was believed by his daughter Ivanka.

White House aiming for Trump pivot from virus to economy

"......Days after he publicly mused that scientists should explore the injection of toxic disinfectants as a potential virus cure,

Trump has now rejected the utility of his daily task force briefings, where he has time and again clashed with scientific experts. Trump’s aides are aiming to move the president onto more familiar — and safer, they hope — ground: talking up the economy, in tighter controlled settings............

....allies have seen an erosion in support for the president. What had been his greatest asset in the reelection campaign, his ability to blanket news headlines with freewheeling performances, has become a daily liability.

At the same time, new Republican Party polling shows Trump’s path to a second term depends on the public’s perception of how quickly the economic rebounds from the state-by-state shutdowns meant to slow the spread of the virus. ...........

Trump blasts Fox News, says he wants 'an alternative'

".........His criticism also targeted "Fox News Sunday" host Chris Wallace, who he said was "nastier to Republicans than even Deface the Nation or Sleepy Eyes," referring to CBS's "Face the Nation" and NBC's Chuck Todd, host of "Meet the Press" and "Meet the Press Daily."

Fox News representatives did not immediately return a request for comment on the president's tweets.

His remarks came as right-wing cable news outlet One America News (OAN) has pushed in recent weeks for the president's public support, tweeting in March that the network "call[ed] ****" after Trump failed to mention them by name at a campaign rally.

"Anyone who knows @OANN, knows we've reported REAL news since DAY ONE. Our young people work very hard to do that, so to be mentioned by the President means a lot more to them than to the established media elites," added the network's CEO, Robert Herring, in a tweet..........
