The federal government’s ability to pay Social Security benefits could stop by mid-2023

if President Trump were to permanently terminate the payroll tax

and not offer another revenue source, the chief actuary of the Social Security Administration says.

Always amazes me how many Republican supporters don't understand all this.  What it means is they will not have a secure retirement, if can retire at all - ever.  Also means that many boomers and Gen X'ers will have to live with their children.  Will have to provide for their medical coverage as well.

Eliminating the misnamed "payroll tax" is just another GOPer attack on Social Security and Medicare.  Of course, it would benefit the financial institutions, insurance companies and Wall Street by enabling them to sell "retirement" and "medical" plans.  Then when people start applying for benefits, whoops - time to declare bankruptcy after the managers take their golden parachutes.

What it means is just more hot air from Trump.    He just want to give the appearance that he wants to delay the employee contribution amount taken out so that employees would see larger paychecks.     One plan I saw was that employees would have to make-up the difference after the Covid-19-economy has ended (more would be taken out per-paycheck until the lacking 2020 contribution difference was zero).

So to me this is just Dem fear-mongering.      Similar to GOP fear-mongering that Dems wish to defund or even eliminate police departments.

I.e.  these are straw man attack points.       BUT,  Trump deserves to be attacked for this since he did mention such a misguided plan.    (unlike Biden who doesn't deserve attacks about being anti-law-and-order since he hasn't said anything like that but only activist,  most that are even members of the Dem party).

BREAKING: Trump Team Waited Until the Day Dr. Fauci Was in Surgery and Under Anesthesia

to Push Through Dangerous New Testing Guidelines He Apparently Opposed;

Experts Call Action—Which May Artificially Reduce Testing Data for Trump Preelection—"Dangerous"

......."I am concerned about the interpretation of these recommendations and worried it will give people the incorrect assumption that asymptomatic spread is not of great concern. In fact it is," Fauci said.

The new guidelines raise the bar on who should get tested, advising that some people without symptoms probably don't need it -- even if they've been in close contact with an infected person.

Previously, the CDC said viral testing was appropriate for people with recent or suspected exposure, even if they were asymptomatic..........

After release of Senate intelligence report, Trump cannot plausibly deny Russia links (Editorial)

"..........The fact is, Russian President Vladimir V. Putin wanted Trump to defeat Clinton, and he got what he wanted.

But because Trump has been so successful at obfuscating and dodging and feinting, making normal folk believe that lies are truth and vice versa, there are still lots of people in our nation who don't believe that the Trump campaign in 2016, and again now, is connected with Russia.

It was, and it is."

show me a peaceful protester holding a bible.

:P

For all Trump cares about the Bible, he may as well be standing on it or spitting on it.  It was all a photo-op, tear-gassing peacefully protesting Americans, to try to convince the rubes and brain dead base that he cares about religion.  He appears to care only while the camera is clicking.

We Need to Talk About the GOP’s ‘Black Friends’

The Republican National Convention has been all about using Black people to convince white people it’s OK to vote for a bigot.

".......You can tell that the Republicans are engaging in tokenism at their convention if you listen to the content of the speeches given by Black speakers instead of being preoccupied (as I suspect many Republicans are) with the fact that they are talking while Black. Close your eyes, and you will hear their silence on issues of racial and social justice. The Black speakers, like the rest of the Republican Party, offer no agenda to extend economic or social opportunities to people of color.

They offer no policy prescriptions to address police brutality or violence against Black people. They offer no rebuttals to the assaults on voting rights or immigrant rights the Trump administration engages in. And they’ve been as silent about the disproportionate toll Covid-19 has taken on communities of color as Herman Cain.

The Black people who were allowed to speak at this convention were there to transmit one message to white listeners: “It’s OK.” Trump’s racism is OK, because..........

.....Most of the white speakers came armed with some agenda. They wanted more farm subsidies or fewer abortions or more Jesus in schools or the right to shoot Black people walking past their homes.

But the Black speakers seemingly wanted nothing. There were no additional policies they desired or issues they wanted addressed. They had no goals they wanted the next Trump administration to accomplish and no legislation they wanted Republicans to pass.

Instead of an agenda, the Black people were just there to say, “Thank you, white folks,” and fade off-screen..........

At this moment, conservative media figures are crafting a narrative that black people attempting to disarm a white vigilante who was

(1) illegally brandishing an assault weapon after

(2) shooting someone in the head *deserved to get shot.*

It is racist and it is sickening.

Names of victims are Joseph Rosenbaum, Anthony Huber (killed) and Gaige Grosskreutz. https://www.usnews.com/news/us/articles/2020-08-27/ill-teen-charged-in-kenosha-shooting-that-killed-2-hurt-1

For some reason no sources are mentioning their races.
