Housing Dept launches investigation into involvement of Carson's family in agency business http://hill.cm/j6x8eqQ

Nepotism in the White House, nepotism in a cabinet dept-- this cabinet secretary is just following the lead of his chief executive boss.

The person at the top, in this case the president,  sets the standards for all those below him.

Two scientists have stepped down after Interior Sec. Zinke demanded that they provide his office with confidential data before it was released to the public.

The scientists charge that the request violated U.S. Geological Survey’s integrity policy. http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/nationworld/politics/ct-scientists-leave-interior-department-20180221-story.html

EPA and Scott Pruitt sued by groups alleging agency violated federal records laws

  • Two groups sued the Environmental Protection Agency and Administrator Scott Pruitt on Thursday for allegedly violating federal records laws.
  • The groups claim the EPA has systematically refused to document "essential activities" and discouraged employees from keeping records.
  • " Under Scott Pruitt, the EPA has assumed a bunker mentality where paper trails are religiously avoided unless penned in invisible ink," Adam Carlesco, staff counsel for PEER, said in a statement. "By law, the American public has a right to know the basis for public health and anti-pollution decision-making that affects their lives."

John Kelly has told associates he wouldn't mind if Jared Kushner and Ivanka "left their positions as full-time employees," the Washington Post reports.

The Amateur Hour gong has struck and Kelly's got the hook pulling them off stage.

I thought he lived in a tree and made cookies all day.

I'm pretty sure Blowregard Sessions has that gig nailed down.

Maybe Donny could give Kusher one of those word puzzle books.

That should keep him busy for a while.

One interesting aspect of all these resignations and "firings" is how many vacancies Trump has that he has never filled in the first place.  Some of the most important ambassadorial positions remain vacant - Saudi Arabia, South Korea, Germany, Turkey and more.

NBC: White House Preparing To Oust McMaster As National Security Adviser: Chaos, chaos, and more chaos. This may work for Trump’s businesses but it is no way to run a government. https://talkingpointsmemo.com/livewire/nbc-white-house-preparing-to-oust-mcmaster-as-national-security-adviser  via @TPM

H.R. McMaster was the senior White House official most interested in gaming out a preemptive war with North Korea. His hawkishness on the issue (reportedly) freaked out Mattis and Tillerson. Depending on his replacement, this could be good news.

This is why it would be a catastrophe if John Bolton replaces HR McMaster. It would lead to a significantly greater risk of Korean War II, this time with nukes.

John Bolton in WSJ op-ed:

"Pre-emption opponents argue that action is not justified because Pyongyang does not constitute an 'imminent threat.' They are wrong. The threat is imminent." @AmbJohnBolton
