epsilon
Hi, I have been trying for years to identify the tune(jazz music i think) heard after Vanessa Redgrave finishes her singing. It is heard in the background when James Mason says that he wants to adopt her. Here is a link to a relative video clip. Please help and thanks
slaytonf
The IMDB page for Georgy Girl lists the songs on the soundtrack: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0060453/soundtrack?ref_=tt_trv_snd I don't know if it was released as an album. You can search for recordings of individual tracks. Good luck.
Movie Collector OH
Looking through those listings and having listened to the background music, I would say based on title alone it might be the Opus Charleston piece, even though I'd have to pay attention to the whole movie to rule it out. I have no proof on that, the style sounds appropriate to the title though. Compare in structure to Tommy Dorsey's Opus One. No idea on a soundtrack album. So far I think I see evidence of some sheet music for the title track, but that is about all. I am a fan of The Seekers and they had a new stage show Georgie Girl The Musical, written in their likeness just this past year, completely unrelated to this movie. So the search results will likely point to that or one of their prior albums.
epsilon
Thanks for the information. I did try IMDB but not much there. May be the said tune is uncredited. Anyway thanks a for the information. Back in the mid60s i used to listen to that tune on radio and tv adverts. I will let you know for any results. Thanks again. epsilon
Hi, I have listen to Opus Charleston and Opus one by Tommy Dorsey. No results dear friend. The recordings sound much older. I believe the tune i am looking for was recorded later in the 60s. As far as i know no OST was ever released of film. All the best,

It sounds to me like it was performed (and perhaps even written) in the 60s for the movie, but structured like earlier swing-era music.
epsilon
Hi, Using Shazam gave me a clue that it is HERBIE HANCOCK. Any idea.?Please and thanks.
slaytonf
Herbie Hancock's IMDB page doesn't have an entry for Georgy Girl. But IMDB is not infallible. . . . One thing you could do is shop an audio clip around on jazz chat rooms. Maybe someone would know. You could also get in touch with jazz radio stations. Two good ones I know of are KSDS, out of San Diego City College, and KJazz, out of Long Beach State University. The staff and announcers have a vast knowledge of jazz, were associates of many great musicians, and are musicians themselves. If they can't identify the song and it's composer, it probably doesn't exist.
