Trump vs. the Press/Media

Fox News Is Planting Thoughts in Donald Trump’s Head-

"It has been evident for some time now that the President of the United States is, like many older white American men, addicted to Fox News.

Like a bird trapped in a behavioral psychology experiment, unable to stop responding to the stimuli of flashing lights and noises that promise food, Donald Trump appears at times to be almost a victim of the conservative channel’s capacity to induce rage in its most loyal viewers.......

:lol::o

One error in this, at least in my area of country.  Should say older white American men and women.  They are just as virulently Trumpists as the men.  Even the ones who are quiet still vote for Trump and watch Fox Noise.

What this seems to be saying is that Trump with his private school and ivy league education, having grown up with all the advantages in life, is as gullible and similar in his responses to Fox as the poorly educated people who support him and follow Fox religiously.

I'm not necessarily convinced of that - - I think he still sees it as a political motivation and a political tool.

But it's a genuinely interesting hypothesis.

His son-in-law Kushner has stated privately that the birther promotion by Trump was simply a political tool. And that's how I see his grandstanding after getting "stimulated" by Fox-- political manipulation.

Yep! Have to agree with Princess here.

Yep, as much as it might at first blush SEEM as if Donny, to quote one Rufus T. Firefly, "may talk like an idiot and may look like an idiot, but don't let that fool you, he really IS an idiot", I believe, like Princess here evidently does, that there truly IS a method to Donny's idiocy to be found here upon further reflection!

It's always struck me that Donny first concerned himself with attaining the STAUS of getting the oval office and figured he'd worry about anything ELSE about the job once he got there.

And that inwardly he still struggles with the reality that being POTUS doesn't  mean he's imbued with inarguable autonomy.

OH yeah! This idea that Donny's primary impetus for throwing his hat into the ring was based more than anything else on the idea of stroking his enormous ego, is one I think many people can agree with, Sepia.

(...and your second thought here is of course confirmed by the fact that just a few weeks back and by use of his stupid little Twitter account, the idiot questioned our government's long-held Checks and Balances system)

I absolutely do not want the media to stop investigating and reporting on the Trump-Russia situation.  Nor do I want the government to stop investigating.

However I really wish that MSNBC, CNN, HLN, etc. would get back to more balanced programming, especially at night.  Now every time I turn to one of them, day or night, they are discussing Trump/Russia.  Not to mention having a crowd of guests to have commentary and get into arguments.

For example, the nightly NBC and CBS news programs cover a broad range of "news" in 30 minutes.

I realize that MSNBC and CNN, especially at night, are not news programs and are more opinion, but still...

Fox's chief intelligence correspondent edited out mention of Russian government when quoting Trump Jr. emails-

A Fox host also praised Trump Jr. for "trying to make this as most transparent as possible"

".......Fox has consistently tried to either ignore, or downplay news surrounding Trump and Russia, and has gone as far as creating an alternate reality to distract its viewers. The network's reaction to these new developments is just the latest example."

"Sinclair Broadcasting is giving more exposure to political commentator and former Trump administration official Boris Epshteyn by increasing its number of "must run" segments at its 173 local affiliates across the country....

In addition to an increase in commentaries, Epshteyn is also expected to conduct interviews with Washington, D.C., political figures.

Many Sinclair stations exist in the Midwestern swing states key to President Trump's victory last November and in some cases reach more viewers than CNN, a network Trump has consistently attacked more than any other as "fake news."

Comedian John Oliver addressed Sinclair's corporate office requirement to run these segments on his HBO show "Last Week Tonight" on July 2, noting that Sinclair's alleged right-wing bias would inject conservative views into local news broadcasts....

Trump goes off-script and fumes about Sessions and Russia probe-

(7-19-17) In the NYTimes interview, Trump.... questioned the political leanings and ethics of Sessions’ deputy Rod Rosenstein, repeated his claims of conflicts on the part of Special Counsel Robert Mueller and notably shifted his account of his dealings with FBI Director James Comey before he was abruptly fired in May.

Trump told the Times that he believed it would be “a violation” for Mueller to look at his family’s financial dealings beyond anything involving Russia,...

...without seeking advice from his lawyers or his senior aides, Trump was in the Oval Office telling reporters from the New York Times that he regretted hiring Jeff Sessions as his attorney general and discussing a sensitive investigation his lawyers have told him to keep quiet about –...

Trump has blamed Sessions for much of the mess he now finds himself in and sees the recusal as a pivotal moment in his presidency, advisers and aides say. And he thinks Sessions hasn't always presented himself well in public. The top campaign adviser is no longer in the inner circle....

Based on transcript of excerpts of NYT intv, it took just 21 words before Pres Trump mentions Hillary Clinton...

It looks as though Trump really wants to help the " FAILED " New York Times by giving it exclusive presidential interviews that even his own top aides have not consulted with him about or scheduled.

Trump’s Allies Are Taking Over the Media and Creating Their Own Reality-

"Sinclair is a far-right media operation that until recently has flown under the radar of all but the most studious media critics. It received brief scrutiny in December, when it was revealed that Jared Kushner had struck a deal with the company to give it special access to Donald Trump in exchange for a promise to run Trump interviews across the country without commentary....

....far-right extremists with next to no commitment to traditional journalistic standards are seeking to expand their empire to the point where their version of “reality” will soon overwhelm the reporting from what remains of the mainstream media.

On the other hand, those institutions — under intense financial and political pressure — are increasingly caving in to demands that they tailor their coverage to make it more consistent with the fantasy world promoted by Trump and his acolytes....

...where are you reading about this? Who besides a British comedian with a weekly show on pay cable is raising this particular alarm? Almost no one. The frog is in the water and the heat is turned up high. But it’s not a frog; it’s the possibility of truth even entering our political discourse and determining the fate of our democracy that’s dying a slow death."

.@PressSec resigned after vehemently objecting to appointment at 10 a.m. Friday of Anthony Scaramucci as WH Communications director, per SAO

Sean Spicer has done an incredible job as Trump's Press Secretary by attempting to do the impossible--

To be a professional spokesperson for an Ungrateful, Disloyal Pathological Liar who shoots off from the hip without any prior notification.

Spicer was setup to fail at the get-go on inauguration day when he was forced to lie about the size of the crowds.

In his attempt to do a good job for Trump, Spicer has destroyed his credibility as a professional and as an honest human being.

Only he knows why it took him six months to decide to get out of this mess.

During that time Spicer became a national buffoon on American television and an Attack Pitbull against the White House Press Corps-- who were just doing their job, trying to preserve and defend our First Amendment Rights.

Only he knows why it took him six months to decide to get out of this mess.

Scaramucci, back-slapping hedge fund magnate and GOP fundraiser, reaches the White House-

"...is a long-time Republican donor and fundraiser who once criticized Donald J. Trump, the presidential candidate.

But he eventually became one of Trump's biggest defenders, and after months of delays he is finally getting what he has worked for behind the scenes since last year: a position in the Trump White House.

....

On Friday he was named White House communications director, a post that has been vacant since May after Mike Dubke resigned.

Scaramucci, 53, a Long Island native who is sometimes called by the nickname "the Mooch," graduated from Harvard Law School in 1989 after getting a bachelor's degree in economics from Tufts University in 1986. According to biographical information on Bloomberg, he was an investment professional at Fidelity Investments and later a vice president in private wealth management at Goldman Sachs. He eventually made it to Lehman Brothers as a managing director in its investment management division......

Scaramucci Avoids Answer When Asked if He Will Commit to Being Accurate and Truthful

"I sort of feel like I don't even have to answer that question. I hope you can feel that from me just from my body language that's the kind of person that I am," Anthony Scaramucci said in response to being asked if he will commit to being accurate and truthful......

If anyone ever tells you that you should know what kind of person they are when they are asked if they will tell you the truth, check your back.

Scaramucci feels he doesn’t have to answer the question of if he will commit to accuracy. You should just know the kind of person that he is from his body language. Shame on you for asking.

Yup, that’s Trump’s best pick ever for communication director..........

Donald Trump's new Director of Communications--

While Jeff Sessions was running all over the country promoting and making speeches for Donald Trump, Hedge Fund Magnate Anthony Scaramucci was saying stuff like this.

It just goes to show that none of it means anything.  Trump would make a deal with the devil, or Putin to get elected and promise anything to anyone to get what he wants from them.  All HS.  The suckers should have known better or at the very least wise up right now.

‘Simpsons’ creator: I was told to lay off Fox News after we called it ‘No. 1 with racists’-

Specifically, the show labeled Fox as “not racist, but No. 1 with racists.”

“Then Bill O’Reilly called us pinheads and look what happened,” Groening joked, as reported by the Hollywood Reporter.

Despite pressure from 21st Century Fox, however, no one should expect the Simpsons to stop using topical humor anytime soon......

'Broad City' to Bleep President Trump's Name in Season 4

Broad City is choosing a unique way to tackle President Donald Trump's presidency.

In the upcoming fourth season of the Comedy Central comedy, the name of the former Celebrity Apprentice host will be bleeped out.

"There's no airtime for this orange [person]," co-creator and star Ilana Glazer told USA Today. "We bleep his name the whole season."

Sinclair makes Fox look like MSNBC.  Their TV stations now reach 70% of the country.  Since they own Tribune media now, I'll have to ask my Chicago friends if they've starting running Sinclair's  mandatory right wing comments on local WGN news.  They also own the local NBC affiliate in LA.  These are regular broadcast network stations, not cable news.

When authoritarian regimes and their supporters get in power, the first thing they mess with is the free press.
