Trump vs. the Press/Media

Recommended Posts

Donald J. TrumpVerified account @realDonaldTrump 5h5 hours ago

Google search results for “Trump News” shows only the viewing/reporting of Fake News Media. In other words, they have it RIGGED, for me & others, so that almost all stories & news is BAD. Fake CNN is prominent. Republican/Conservative & Fair Media is shut out. Illegal? 96% of....

....results on “Trump News” are from National Left-Wing Media, very dangerous. Google & others are suppressing voices of Conservatives and hiding information and news that is good. They are controlling what we can & cannot see. This is a very serious situation-will be addressed!

Dear @realDonaldTrump: You should read the First Amendment. @Google has the right to, for example, prioritize cute cat videos over weird Alex Jones rants.

If government tried to dictate the free speech algorithms of private companies, courts would strike it down in a nanosecond.

"Google on Tuesday responded to President Trump's early-morning tirade against the search giant, denying that its algorithms favor liberal media outlets over right-wing ones.

The tech giant said that it does not bias its "results toward any political ideology."

"When users type queries into the Google Search bar, our goal is to make sure they receive the most relevant answers in a matter of seconds," a Google spokesperson said in a statement.

"Search is not used to set a political agenda and we don't bias our results toward any political ideology," the statement continues. "Every year, we issue hundreds of improvements to our algorithms to ensure they surface high-quality content in response to users' queries. We continually work to improve Google Search and we never rank search results to manipulate political sentiment."......

A New Book Details the Damage Done by the Right-Wing Media in 2016

".....both sides resemble each other in their twisted views of reality. Rachel Maddow and Sean Hannity, in other words, represent two sides of the same coin.

This view is precisely wrong, according to a provocative new book by Yochai Benkler, Robert Faris, and Hal Roberts that will be published next month by Oxford University Press. The book’s title, “Network Propaganda: Manipulation, Disinformation, and Radicalization in American Politics,” is a mouthful, but the book’s message is almost simple. The two sides are not, in fact, equal when it comes to evaluating “news” stories, or even in how they view reality.

Liberals want facts; conservatives want their biases reinforced. Liberals embrace journalism; conservatives believe propaganda. In the more measured but still emphatic words of the authors, “the right-wing media ecosystem differs categorically from the rest of the media environment,” and has been much more susceptible to “disinformation, lies and half-truths.”........

President Trump's Description of What's 'Fake' Is Expanding

"President Trump was bombarded with negative news cycles last month, so he turned to Twitter, venting frustrations and dismissing an increasingly wide variety of things he doesn't like as "fake" or "phony.

Presidential tweets about "fake news" aren't new, but August was unique in the sheer frequency of such presidential declarations on Twitter. There were more tweets in August about things Trump labels fake and phony than in any other month of his presidency.

This is part of a trend: as Trump's presidency has gone on, these kinds of tweets have increased over time, with peaks coming in months with particularly bad headlines for the president.............

"Donald Trump more and more is calling into question every other source of information besides himself," ......

"I think Americans are often very concerned when they see leaders with authoritarian tendencies telling their supporters things that are false over and over again and attacking other sources of information," said Nyhan.

"And if that worries you when you see it abroad, it should worry you when you see it here too." .....

Two long running, Obama era, investigations of two very popular Republican Congressmen were brought to a well publicized charge, just ahead of the Mid-Terms, by the Jeff Sessions Justice Department. Two easy wins now in doubt because there is not enough time. Good job Jeff.

The Democrats, none of whom voted for Jeff Sessions, must love him now. Same thing with Lyin’ James Comey. The Dems all hated him, wanted him out, thought he was disgusting - UNTIL I FIRED HIM! Immediately he became a wonderful man, a saint like figure in fact. Really sick!

It looks like he might be deciding to go back to his journalistic roots.

Under normal circumstances, this would be very sad. In the current situation, it's dangerous. Nicole Wallace has just brought up the fact that Trump may be suffering from Alzheimer's disease. Many of his symptoms are characteristic of that dread disease.

We all know about the memory loss symptom. Here are some other symptoms, from the Mayo Clinic website:

Changes in personality and behavior

Brain changes that occur in Alzheimer's disease can affect the way you act and how you feel. People with Alzheimer's may experience:

  • Depression
  • Apathy
  • Social withdrawal
  • Mood swings
  • Distrust in others
  • Irritability and aggressiveness
  • Changes in sleeping habits
  • Wandering
  • Loss of inhibitions
  • Delusions, such as believing something has been stolen

A senior Trump administration official writes an anonymous op-ed in the New York Times

and admits that cabinet members have whispered about invoking the 25th Amendment to remove Trump:

“The root of the problem is the president’s amorality.”

---------------------------------------

"I Am Part of the Resistance Inside the Trump Administration

I work for the president but like-minded colleagues and I have vowed to thwart parts of his agenda and his worst inclinations."

"....

To be clear, ours is not the popular “resistance” of the left. We want the administration to succeed and think that many of its policies have already made America safer and more prosperous.

But we believe our first duty is to this country, and the president continues to act in a manner that is detrimental to the health of our republic

That is why many Trump appointees have vowed to do what we can to preserve our democratic institutions while thwarting Mr. Trump’s more misguided impulses until he is out of office......

" The Times today is taking the rare step of publishing an anonymous Op-Ed essay. We have done so at the request of the author, a senior official in the Trump administration whose identity is known to us and whose job would be jeopardized by its disclosure. We believe publishing this essay anonymously is the only way to deliver an important perspective to our readers. ......"

BREAKING: Trump calls publication of unsigned 'resistance' op-ed by senior administration official 'really a disgrace.'

In this case Trump is right.   It is a disgrace.    I can clearly understand why this senior admin official would wish to try to do what they could to "thwart parts of his agenda and his worst inclinations."  but why the need to go public?

There wasn't any need to go public.   The only reason would be because this person wishes to be outed and dismissed.

Remember when folks on the left were castigated for raising the 25th Amendment? Republican White House staffers were having the same talk internally.

Remember when Trump said there was a left-wing deep-state FBI conspiracy?

Well—there's a right-wing deep state in the White House.
