This well-known man's name became synonymous with his lifestyle.  He was portrayed in two films by the same actor--one his biopic, the other a bopic of a famous entertainer.  Do you know the fellow (who was not an entertainer) and the actor who portrayed him?

His biopic contains his name,...the other biopic contains the name of a famous woman he was connected with.  The actor who portrayed him in both is a big guy.

He's the one...even his NYT obit mentioned "He liked elaborate meals and the company of pretty women.."  and he loved jewels--he called them 'my pets' and even his suspenders and umbrella were 'bejeweled' with the real things.

This sports biopic starred a musical comedy star. The figure that he portrayed had a shortened athletic career, although he continued to be associated with the sport through other means.

This film was based on a real life story, and earned eight Oscar nominations, but lost almost all of them to another film released that year that won a record number of Oscars.   Please name the film, who played the title role in the film, two costars, the competing film that swept the Oscars that year, the real life person the book was based on, and the books' author.

FilmLover, I think I may have figured this out, except for one thing.  Are the author of the book and the person it is based on, the same person?

Hint #3--There was political unrest during location filming, and a revolution a year later that resulted in the deaths of some of the people the film company had worked with.

Is it The Nun's Story, starring Audrey Hepburn, Peter Finch and Edith Evans, based on the book written by Kathryn Hulme and based on her relationship with Marie Louise Habets?

The movie was nominated for 8 Oscars, but was shut out by Ben-Hur.
