McConnell predicts there will not be enough Senate votes to remove Trump-

In between public impeachment hearings, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell outlined what would happen when the impeachment process reaches the Senate. McConnell said he did not believe there would be enough votes to remove President Trump from office.

Impeachment is more of a political process than a judicial one.  That is why it is tried in the Senate rather than before the Supreme Court.

As for McConnell's statement, everybody knows this and it will not change.  Takes 2/3's of Senators.  Nothing new here.

What Hill is really asserting this morning is that current GOP Members of Congress

are being successfully used by the Russians.

:o  <_<

I don't think these Republicans in Congress are being manipulated by Russian propaganda because they wholeheartedly are agreeing to support the pro-Russian policy of trump at the expense of American Security.

The Republican party has made its choice and they're doing it because it benefits their ability to unfairly win elections.

Without the foreign interference of the Russians--

Along with wide-spread illegal voter suppression and racist  gerrymandering --

the Republicans could not maintain  their power in our two -party system.

Because they've already lost the demographics and the confidence of a majority of Americans.

The Republican National Committee spent nearly $100,000 on copies of Donald Trump Jr.'s book.

When the book, “Triggered,” appeared at the top of the New York Times best-seller list,

a debate erupted over how and why it had claimed the No. 1 spot.

@realDonaldTrump told you how to be supportive:
Appoint @RepDougCollins.

You are ignoring his request because you THINK you know better than @POTUS.

If you substitute your judgement for the President’s, maybe you need a primary in 2022. Let’s see if you can win one w/o Trump

Some say Kemp cheated in Georgia and that's the only reason he's Governor today.

To stay there he's going to need all the help he can get.

Is this all the Republican party has?

This woman invited Racist Death Threats against a black Muslim woman based on lies.

Then this white Republican woman has the audacity to hide behind a Christian cross.

All I can say is--

her behavior is very Republican, and not at all Christian.

As over the past year Trump has become more lawless and reckless, Republicans in Congress have become more spineless and pathetic. I still believe it would be good to have a responsible Republican Party. I increasingly believe it will have to be recreated from scratch.

Take a moment to appreciate the surreality in which Bill Kristol calls for the destruction of the Republican Party because of the threat it poses to American democracy.

There are still some real Republicans left to restructure this party.

Right now, political party Body Snatcher trump has taken over the Republican Party.

Yet there are those who have resigned or who are vocally repeatedly opposing him and these patriotic Americans will be there to reconstruct the second party system for American democracy.

The Traitors Among Us

Donald Trump likes to call his opponents traitors — but if he’s looking for treasonous behavior, he should look within his own party

".....Traitors from Benedict Arnold to Klaus Fuchs to Aldrich Ames to Robert Hanssen sold out this country for a host of reasons, all explicable and unforgivable. The intelligence community even has a handy acronym for the motivations of traitors, and one that applies readily to known cases.

The acronym is MICE: Money, Ideology, Compromise, and Ego. Pick a traitor and one of those reasons will underpin their betrayal.

Add a new one to the acronym. Call it, MICE-T, with the “T” naturally standing for Trump.

Their treason isn’t executed in the old ways of secret meetings, furtive brush passes, or encrypted messages. No, the traitors of today show us their cards on cable TV, laughing and giggling over their betrayal of the oath they swore, and the security of this country, all for the political service of Donald Trump.....

The traitors will sit in Congressional hearings on impeachment knowing the truth about Trump’s extortion racket and of the grubby, sleazy plan Trump sent Gordon Sondland, Rudy Giuliani, et al to carry out, and tell lie after lie, the bigger the better.

The traitors cheer when Trump rides roughshod over the military chain of command and the Universal Code of Military Justice, freeing men who killed civilians, abused and violated the warrior ethos, and broke the very laws of war they swore to uphold. They’ve gone from respecting hard men carrying out tough missions to fetishizing the outliers, edge cases, and the war criminals.......

And if you can’t spot the treason yet, you will soon enough. That’s the thing about spies, traitors, and those who betray their country — they rarely stay hidden forever.

The traitors are the ones who, when this is all done and dusted, will sit in the dock at some new Nuremberg trial and claim their innocence of the worst charges and penalties not by claiming their actions were “just following orders” but that they were “just following Trump.”

In a way she's correct. It was about service, sacrifice, and heritage in the name of keeping slavery legal and viable,

Roof was just being true, in a certain respect, to that flag. Before Roof, Haley had no problems with the Confed

flag. Can anyone imagine a mainstream German politician defending the Nazi flag.  That's why the U.S. is a garbage

country.

Mikel Jollett is primarily a California musician, but has done some writing - apparently fiction.

Upon what does he base his quote from Nikki Haley?   What is its relevance here?

It should be noted that Haley gained nation-wide fame for her stance to have the Confederate Flag removed from the S.C. State House grounds after the Dylan Roof murders in Charleston S.C.   Personally I think she was just burnishing her image for future national office - and she got one.

The quote is totally being taken out of context.   Of course some fools here were fooled by it since it 'fit' their pre-conceived notions

This is what happens often when dummies like Jollett get their "news" from Twitter!     (because original Twitter feeds also took the comment out of context).

Haley is trying to protect her status with Republican Party in the age of Trump.  As a South Carolinian, I can state that there are people in this state who hate.  Assume the same for every state.  Haley was born in 1972 to Indian parents.  She probably has little actual knowledge of South Carolina history as it involves the Civil War, Reconstruction, Redemption, Jim Crow, segregation and anything before 1980's.  She should as a member of the party that attracted the racists and Southern apologists in S.C.

The Confederate Battle Flag was "hijacked" long before Dylan Roof and has become a symbol of racism in most instances.  If it flies from a Confederate memorial or is in a museum, it is not racist.  Otherwise it probably is.

Of course, the flag is not racist; the person displaying it is.

To be pedantic, the flag in question is the battle flag, not the Confederate national flag, of which there were three.  The Stars and Bars was the first national flag and not the battle flag as some believe.   The second and third national flags incorporated the battle flag as the union.

From Washington Post article.  Haley made statements in conversation with Glen Beck.

Haley:  “Here is this guy who comes out with his manifesto holding the Confederate flag and had just hijacked everything that people thought of,” Haley said, according to a video of the interview on BlazeTV. “We don’t have hateful people in South Carolina. There’s always the small minority who are always going to be there, but people saw it as service, sacrifice and heritage. But once he did that, there was no way to overcome it.”

In her 2015 address to South Carolinians about removing the flag, Haley defended those who see the flag as standing “for traditions that are noble. Traditions of history, of heritage and of ancestry.”
