Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell insisted that flailing state and local governments should be able to “use the bankruptcy route” rather than receive aid from the federal government

Let’s be clear what Mitch McConnell is saying to our firefighters, EMTs, police officers, teachers and other public servants: you’re expendable.

This is shameful. We must fight this, and we must win.

So let me get this straight: McConnell thinks states bearing the brunt of this crisis should file for bankruptcy,

but multibillion-dollar corporations deserve a $500 billion bailout?
====================================

Republican Senators: Raise your hand if you think YOUR state should go bankrupt.

Gov. Cuomo really letting Sen. Mitch McConnell have it.

He says that New York State contributes $116 Billion more to the federal budget than it takes from it

whereas Kentucky takes more from the federal government than it puts in by more than that amount.

Georgia governor faces growing pressure, but shows no signs of reversal

".....Kemp is moving forward with plans to reopen parts of the economy across Georgia, including close-contact businesses like nail salons, barbershops and massage parlors.

It’s a decision that has met with a backlash, including from some Republicans, who say the move risks leading to additional outbreaks.

“The president wants the country open. I want the country open,” Rep. Doug Collins (R-Ga.) said on “Fox & Friends” on Thursday. “The governor wants the country open. The problem is how do you do it? And I think that's the problem with leadership.”

Local officials have said they will recommend that their citizens stay home while criticizing the decision.

In the state House, dozens of Democratic lawmakers drafted a letter to Kemp, asking him to wait ...........

.....

“Just like the thousands of businesses currently operating throughout Georgia, I am confident that business owners who decide to reopen will adhere to Minimum Basic Operations, which prioritize the health and well-being of employees and customers,” he continued.

Under the plans he has set forward, Kemp will allow businesses like gyms and barbershops to open on a limited basis Friday. Theaters and dine-in restaurants will be allowed to open Monday with some restrictions.........

If there's any possible way for the trumparty to give more to the richest, they'll find it

Private haven for wealthy received $2M from small business loan program

AOL.COM 1 day ago

A housing association representing the richest zip code in America was approved to receive a $2 million emergency coronavirus relief loan from the Small Business Administration, despite suffering no layoffs and no apparent financial impact from the coronavirus pandemic.

The Fisher Island Community Association, which manages the members-only private island off the Miami coast that can only be reached by helicopter or boat and once counted Oprah Winfrey as a member, was approved for a Paycheck Protection Program loan intended to help small businesses who had shuttered, laid off workers, or furloughed staff due to the viral outbreak.

The association is responsible for maintaining the 216 acres of grounds and beaches, plus the common areas and swimming pools and 18 tennis courts for the island's 800 families. Ana Tinsly, a spokesperson for public services union SEIU Florida, said earlier this week that she was not aware of any layoffs, according to The Miami Herald.

Edit note..they also 'managed' to locate hundreds of tests for everyone on their little isle.

Reminder that Mitch McConnell is bringing the Senate back into session next week

with nothing on the schedule to address the coronavirus crisis.

Instead, he wants to confirm more judges.

A QAnon Devotee Live-Streamed Her Trip to N.Y. to ‘Take Out’ Joe Biden

3e1e1bcb23ff65168cf0a71caf62e603

An Illinois woman inspired by pro-Trump QAnon conspiracy theory videos traveled to New York City on Wednesday with more than a dozen illegal knives and threatened to kill former Vice President Joe Biden, according to police and her own social media posts.

New York police officers arrested dancer Jessica Prim, 37, on Wednesday after she began to act strangely on a city pier. In a live video Prim posted on Facebook of her arrest, she ranted about saving children and claimed she had come to New York because of an internet conspiracy theory video about a “cabal” of pedophile Democrats.

“Have you guys heard about the kids?” a tearful Prim said as she was arrested. “OK, I’m not lying.”

Shortly before her arrest, Prim posted on Facebook that Hillary Clinton and Biden “need to be taken out.”

“Hillary Clinton and her assistant, Joe Biden and Tony Podesta need to be taken out in the name of Babylon!” Prim wrote. “I can’t be set free without them gone. Wake me up!!!!!”

At another point during her arrest, Prim said she believed Donald Trump was talking to her directly during his coronavirus press conferences. Prim is facing more than a dozen counts of criminal possession of a weapon over the knives, as well as a marijuana possession charge, according to the New York Daily News.

Prim’s Facebook page is filled with references to QAnon, a conspiracy theory that holds that top Democrats like Biden and Clinton are cannibal-pedophiles scheming to undermine Donald Trump. Prim encouraged her Facebook fans to check out QAnon “clues,” anonymous posts from the anonymous person or group of people who direct QAnon believers. In a Facebook video posted just hours before her arrest, Prim ranted about a fictitious video—"Frazzled Rip”—that QAnon believers claim features Clinton and former Clinton aide Huma Abedin murdering a child.

Prim appears to have gone to the pier because she was convinced it was near the U.S. Navy Hospital Ship Comfort, the hospital ship that was sent to New York City to help with the coronavirus pandemic. A faction of QAnon believers have become obsessed with the Comfort, convinced that it’s being used to rescue “mole children” abused by the “cabal.”

“I’m at the Comfort,” Prim said in the video.

In fact, Prim had mistaken the U.S.S. Intrepid, a former aircraft carrier that now serves as a museum, for the Comfort.

Former Alabama Senate candidate's lawyer arrested in Gainesville

Screen+Shot+2020-05-01+at+4.28.04+PM1.pn

GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB)-- An attorney that once represented former Alabama Chief Justice and Senate candidate, Roy Moore, was arrested Thursday night in Gainesville.

Alachua County Deputies arrested Trenton Rogers Garmon, 40, after they were called to the Hotel Indigo in Celebration Pointe about a man causing a disturbance.

As deputies arrived staff told them that the disturbance was coming from the 4th floor, saying an older man was screaming racist profanities at some of the hotel guests.

While deputies were getting on an elevator, they could hear a man screaming coming from the 4th floor. Before they arrived, they heard Garmon in an adjacent elevator that opened up back in the lobby.

Deputies that were in the lobby witnessed Garmon verbally berating the two patrons with racial slurs and cuss words. The Deputies stopped Garmon when he began backing the two patrons into a corner of the elevator.

A deputy grabbed Garmon's arm to take him away from the patrons, but Garmon went back to the two patrons again. This led to deputies trying to arrest Garmon.

A deputy was able to place the first handcuff on Garmon's wrist and was given verbal commands to comply. Garmon jerked his arm away and spun around with his other arm high towards the deputy.

Garmon had to be put in the ground to be arrested. He later said that he had been drinking wine and was obviously "heavily intoxicated."

This is not Garmon's first run-in with the law as well. According to Huntsville, Al, news website Alabama.com, Garmon was arrested in 2019 on DUI and drug possession charges.

The man Garmon once represented, Roy Moore, ran for Senate in Alabama in a 2017 special election, that he lost to Democratic candidate Doug Jones.

He was charged in Alachua County with public intoxication and resisting arrest without violence. Garmon was held briefly at the Alachua County jail before being released.

Did you even read what Bush said?      Non Republicans often complain,   legitimately,    that Republican's don't call out Trump.    Here on the most famous Republicans does so,  and the only response is to bag on the guy.

Here is his statement:  Note the focus on the unequal treatment,   a point you have been raising.

"Let us remember how small our differences are in the face of this sheer threat," Bush said. "In the final analysis, we are not partisan combatants. We are human beings, equally vulnerable and equally wonderful in the sight of God. We rise or fall together."

In the nearly 3-minute video, shared by the George W. Bush Presidential Center, Bush said he saw the nation "embrace unavoidable new duties" after the 9/11 terror attacks, and that "spirit is alive and well in America." The former president also issued a warning that the impact of the pandemic will not be felt equally.

"Let's remember that the suffering we experience as a nation does not fall evenly. In the days to come, it will be especially important to care in practical ways for the elderly, the ill and the unemployed," Bush said. More than 30 million people have filed for unemployment in the last six weeks, as the economy has largely shut down to combat the pandemic.

It's abhorrent. It's also totally impractical.

The Absolute Absurdity of Blanket Corporate Immunity

With his new proposal, McConnell rides to the rescue of America’s least imperiled.

".......the contours of the “coronavirus 4” package—you know, the one with all the stuff Democrats want—are coming more clearly into view. The Democratic proposal looks like a mixed bag, providing big funding for desperately needy states and municipalities, but also a bailout for K Street lobbyists.

On the other side of the aisle, Mitch McConnell, who initially indicated there would be no further stimulus whatsoever, has trained his singular focus for the newest package on blanket legal immunity for corporations. The Senate majority leader, doing the express bidding of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, claims that the best way to reopen the economy and return to normal is to grant corporations total legal impunity in coronavirus cases, even for those that recklessly expose workers and customers to unsafe, virus-spreading conditions.

It will come as a surprise to almost no one that this is not a priority shared by the American people...........

There is almost no institution less vulnerable than the corporation, which McConnell has nonetheless placed at the top of the list of his bailout priorities..............

Just one day after Utah gave its businesses a Get Out of Jail (and Even Court) Free card, reports emerged of two separate Utah businesses that had been telling staff to ignore quarantine guidelines. At one business, that has resulted in 48 percent of employees contracting coronavirus; together, the firms have been responsible for 68 additional cases...........

Republicans Are Using the Coronavirus Crisis to Win Long-Desired Bank Deregulation, Raising Potential for Bank Failures

Republican lawmakers and finance industry lobbyists are using the coronavirus pandemic to press regulators into rapidly waiving financial safeguards for community banks.

And so far, banking regulators have obliged, lifting rules imposed after the 2008 crisis that limit risk-taking and require banks to undergo more strenuous audits.

But experts are warning that the deregulatory blitz, sold as a fix to stimulate business by encouraging more lending, raises the potential for a flood of small bank failures, potentially lengthening economic woes and risking the need for future bank bailouts.............

But, he should consult with whomever he is taking a shower with as to what is appropriate or inappropriate in his and their attire.

Which, I can honestly say is none of the Public's business anyway.
