GOP madness Unbound...

Recommended Posts

People often ask me why I think "right wing" comedy doesn't exist or isn't funny

... why there are no successful right wing humorist counterpoints to John Oliver, Jon Stewart, Trevor Noah or Randy Rainbow.

My answer: humor requires an element of truth.

Senate Republicans’ departure for the week makes it official:

There WILL be a lapse in enhanced federal unemployment benefits.
As the recovery stalls and layoffs grow, an estimated 30 million American workers will soon lose over half of their income.

Mitch McConnell did this.

Rand Paul Thanks Tom Cotton for Replacing Him as Most Hated Person in Senate

WASHINGTON (The Borowitz Report)—Calling it the “passing of the baton,” Senator Rand Paul on Monday thanked Senator Tom Cotton for replacing him as the most hated person in the United States Senate.

Paul expressed surprise and no small amount of admiration at Cotton’s feat, telling reporters that being ousted from the most-detested perch was “something that, quite frankly, I didn’t see coming.”

“When I started attacking Dr. Fauci, I pretty much thought I had the title sewn up,” Paul said. “What I didn’t count on was that someone like Tom was going to come out of nowhere, saying slavery was necessary.”

According to Senate insiders, Cotton beat out a daunting field of competitors for Senator Paul’s crown, including Mitch McConnell, Susan Collins, and Ted Cruz.

While he praised Cotton’s audacity in snatching the most-loathed mantle, Paul warned that keeping the title for the long haul is another challenge altogether.

“Becoming despised is easy—staying despised is what separates the men from the boys,” Paul said. “Having said that, I firmly believe that Tom Cotton has what it takes.”

An Eviction Crisis Is Unfolding in the US and May Hit 40 Million

Lawyers contacted by CNBC said they were inundated with eviction cases

.........Even as unemployment levels remain at historic highs and cases of the virus show no sign of abating, statewide eviction moratoriums in more than 30 states have now lifted and protections for renters in the CARES Act are gone.

In Republicans’ plan for a second stimulus package, unveiled earlier this week,

there’s no mention of extending the pause on evictions in properties backed by a federal mortgage or where tenants receive government assistance.

Worsening the situation is the fact that by July 31 some 25 million Americans will stop receiving the weekly $600 federal unemployment checks.

In the end, up to 40 million Americans may lose their homes, four times the amount seen during the Great Recession. ............

It's too bad that more of the GOP leadership didn't study literature in college.

Political science and law are good subjects for  future politicians to study.

But in this instance , Goethe's "Faust" may have been the literary key which could have saved their political careers-- not to mention their personal reputations.;)

Judge removes Green Party candidates from ballot; accuses Montana GOP of ‘constructive fraud’

"District Judge James Reynolds of Helena said several hundred people who signed the petition were improperly denied their request to withdraw their signatures, after discovering that the Montana Republican Party was behind the petition drive.

He said the withdrawal requests must be accepted, and that with those withdrawals, the petition falls short of the minimum needed to qualify the Green Party for the 2020 ballot.

In his 50-page order, Reynolds essentially said the state GOP engaged in “constructive fraud” and “negligent representation” by not timely disclosing its role in the petition drive, thus justifying acceptance of the signature withdrawals.

  • “The actions of the Montana GOP and its agents demonstrate that its misrepresentations
  • and failures to disclose in violation of Montana campaign finance law were intentionally designed to create an advantage for the MT GOP at the expense of unwitting signers,” he wrote.

If Reynolds’ order stands, five Green Party candidates – for U.S. Senate, U.S. House, governor, attorney general and state Senate in Missoula – will not appear on the Nov. 3 general election ballot...........

Billionaire heiress Betsy Devoss, who had never been in a public school in her life before being putting in charge of them, has continued to avoid them completely this year, holing up in one of her mansions where she is protected (?) by.....what?

Questions persist as to why DeVos requires full-time protection from the U.S. Marshals Service, which NBC News reported she began receiving shortly after she was confirmed — the only Cabinet official with such an arrangement. In all, her security detail has cost taxpayers at least $25 million, NBC News has learned.

The Marshals Service wouldn't comment on the arrangement or any specific security threat DeVos faces.

-----

Not only is she worth billions, Forbes reported she made another 45 million last year doing absolutely nothing....chump change.

I can think of a thousand better uses for that 25 million...  I know there is so much greed and corruption involving most of his 'people' it's hard to keep track, but this is just so blatantly questionable...why isn't it covered?

Senate adjourns through Labor Day without reaching a stimulus deal. Here’s where things stand now

........around 28 million Americans remain unemployed and many of the relief provisions from the first stimulus package have dried up. President Donald Trump has issued four executive orders to address some of the issues, but experts remain unconvinced that they will be efficient in helping vulnerable households.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) said that if some kind of deal is reached while the Senate is on recess, members will return to Washington, D.C. for a vote.

As the Senate breaks, here’s where things stand on various stimulus issues. .......

Trump Superfan Bill Mitchell Raised Money via GoFundMe to Move to D.C.

He Moved to Miami Instead -

MIAMI VICE

Bill Mitchell’s fans and some right-wing personalities are fuming at Mitchell after he said he wanted to interview the big politicians in D.C. and then moved to Miami.

"Trump superfan Bill Mitchell is in hot water with his fans, after raising nearly $15,000 to move to Washington, D.C. to improve his online video show and then taking the cash and moving to Miami instead.

Mitchell, a vocal promoter of the QAnon conspiracy theory who became internet-famous in 2016 for his ardent, sometimes-cult-like Twitter defenses of Donald Trump, claimed in May that he wanted to move his online video show “Your Voice America” to a top-of-the-line studio in the nation’s capital.

Mitchell said the move to D.C. from his studio in Palm Beach, Florida would give him and his viewers access to senators, congressmen, and other assorted “movers and shakers.” He said he planned to make the trek within 90 days of May 5. But first, he needed to raise money to pay for the studio......

Last Saturday, his fans began to get suspicious when he tweeted a picture of a Miami apartment complex that he described as “my new Miami home!” and when the Miami New Times reported that he had moved to the city. And now Mitchell’s fans and other right-wing personalities are starting to ask what that money was for in the first place. .........

Mitchell, who visited the White House in July as one of the right-wing personalities invited to Trump’s “Social Media Summit,” also claimed that Miami, rather than the capital of the United States, will be a much better place for him to cover the 2020 presidential race. ...........

The GOP is less a political party and more a circus in search of a tent.
