GOP madness Unbound...

Recommended Posts

"...........#4)  Empower workers by further weakening, if not eliminating, unions. The Republican Study Group report calls for workers to have more freedom to negotiate directly with their employers, a solution in search of a problem. “Our approach would unleash the full potential of the American people by refocusing labor policy to provide workers more control over their own future,” the report states. Given that individual workers are mostly commodities, that’s the equivalent of urging that each grain of wheat in a silo be free to negotiate whether it goes into the grist mill first or last........

.......The report’s attacks on labor unions as a detriment to members comes right out of the Donald Trump playbook in which making stuff up or distorting it without any respect for facts is the name of the game.

Just make the claim and damn reality........."

The real tragedy is the number of workers who buy into this crap and totally oppose unions.   Of course, the unions have been partially to blame by becoming so excessive in their demands and protections of incompetent workers.

According to The Week, Rick Wartzman in Fast Company concluded that the upper middle, middle and lower classes have all been screwed by the rich and corporations with the governments help.  The RAND Corporation determined that the bottom 90% of US workers should be bringing home an additional $2.5 TRILLION in annual income if economic gains were equitably distributed as they were before 1975.  The median full-time worker earning about $50,000 per year should be earning about $100,000 if he/she were doing as well as median workers in 1945-1975.  Those in 90th percentile should be earning $168,000 instead of the $133,000 they are earning.  [All of this is pre-Trump Pandemic.  It is probably far worse now.]

The average annual income of the top 1% is $1.2 million per year.  Major contributors to the problem are failed federal policy decisions allowing the minimum wage to deteriorate, less earned overtime payments and the effectiveness of labor law protections for workers to decline.  [Most at the instigation of Republicans, corporations and the top 1%.

The mistake was to assume that an unfettered free market would generated wealth for everyone.  It never has and it never will.

UNREGULATED CAPITALISM CREATES POVERTY, IGNORANCE AND SUFFERING.

Interesting, but what did Graham say in response?  I didn't watch the debate.

Harrison has said he will not attend tonight's debate unless Lindsay Graham has a COVID-19 test before it.  So far, Graham is refusing saying he was tested last week in Washington.

Repeating myself and others here, but the reason Lindsey Graham won't get tested
despite having been exposed to many COVID+ people
is because if he reveals a positive test and has to quarantine the Amy Coney Barrett nomination could get scuttled.

There is no other logical reason.

No worries.  Donald Trump is doing everything to bring himself down.  This may include the lie that he is totally cured from the COVID as he runs around the country spreading it!

Beto O'Rourke also raised many millions in his run against Tec Cruz, but he still lost.   Harrison will be very hard pressed to win - hope he does.

Videos show closed-door sessions of leading conservative activists: ‘Be not afraid of the accusations that you’re a voter suppressor’

".......Videos provided to The Post — covering dozens of hours of CNP meetings over three days in February and three in August — offer an inside view of participants’ obsessions and fears at a pivotal moment in the conservative movement. The videos, recorded by CNP to share with its members, show influential activists discussing election tactics, amplifying conspiracy theories and describing much of America in dark and apocalyptic terms.

“This is a spiritual battle we are in. This is good versus evil,” CNP’s executive committee president, Bill Walton, said ,,,,,

......“And so our organization is going to be harvesting ballots in churches,” he said. “We’re going to be specifically going in not only to White evangelical churches, but into Hispanic and Asian churches, and collecting those ballots.”......

......

bragged about extensive behind-the-scenes coordination by his group and other nonprofit organizations to influence the White House selection of federal judges.

“Some of us literally opened a whole operation on judicial nominations and vetting,” he said. “We poured millions of dollars into this to make sure the president has good information, he picks the best judges.”.......

said the lack of a clear health-care plan from Trump poses a “huge vulnerability” for the president.

“If we don’t get this right in the next 75 days, there is a question as to whether we’re going to prevail at all within the presidential campaign, or the House or the Senate,” she said.

Others described an elaborate social media and advertising campaign by a collection of nonprofits — some of them tax-exempt charities — to convince voters this fall that a Republican free-market approach to health care would offer more choices....

Between the (deficit) push notification from the Times,
Sasse talking about Trump "spending like a drunken sailor"
and Senate R's already plotting austerity,

you can see the GOP Deficit Gang getting back together
just in time to sabotage a possible Democratic administration.

"Republicans initially thought that a fast appointment of a conservative justice would help them in battleground states.

The reality on the ground is that the virus has not gone away, and there are spikes across the Midwest and elsewhere. Suddenly, McConnell is interested in passing some kind of Covid-19 relief package again.

That the majority leader would realize the political importance of this pivot isn’t surprising. That the members of his own party aren’t pushing harder for it is.......

(but) Some in the Republican Party have looked into the future and decided they don’t like what they see....."

Second whistleblower who accused (R) Texas AG, Paxton,  of bribery

fired from position: report

"...........Employment attorneys told the Tribune that this week’s reported firings may be in violation of the Texas Whistleblower Act, which protects state employees from retaliation after accusing their superiors of crimes.
