A heckler told Senate Democratic leader Chuck Schumer that she got 'sexually excited' while watching him cower under a desk during last week's riot at the US Capitol.

Didn't know whether to use the sad or laugh emoji.

It was never really Trump first, but rather the Republican Party first linked with their personal political futures.  It still is.

14th Amendment, Sec. 3:  "No Person shall be a Senator or Representative in Congress, or elector of President and Vice-President, or hold any office, civil or military, under the United States, or under any State, who, having previously taken an oath, as a member of Congress, or as an officer of the United States, or as a member of any State legislature, or as an executive or judicial officer of any State, to support the Constitution of the United States, shall have engaged in insurrection or rebellion against the same, or given aid or comfort to the enemies thereof. But Congress may by a vote of two-thirds of each House, remove such disability."

After the Civil War, many former US military officers and elected officials who had sworn an oath to US Constitution were allowed to serve in elective office and to serve in US Army after the 14th Amendment was passed.  All of them had taken an oath to the US Constitution after the war and pardoned.  So, there is an out.

Was watching this on TV when it happened.  She positioned herself directly between the camera and Schumer, but you couldn't really hear what she was saying.

Why Schumer chose to have a press conference at the corner of 3rd and 49th is puzzling, given what happened last week.  Plus, he had to pause several times because of sirens.   After about 30 seconds of this woman's inaudible (on TV) rants, CNN cut away from the press conference.

"The woman also accused the New York senator of following the 'socialist' practices of Adolf Hitler."

And so, in contrast to how idiots like her have been been unable to supply any evidence at all of this election being "stolen" from them, CLEAR evidence in THIS case that THIS woman IS an idiot!

As I'm sure attempting to explain the differences between "Socialism" with that of Hitler's "National Socialism" would be a complete waste of ANYONE'S time.

(...let alone this idiot calling a Jewish man an "anti-Semite")

New GOP Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene says she plans to file articles of impeachment against Joe Biden for 'abuse of power' on January 21

Newly elected Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene has said she plans to file articles of impeachment against Joe Biden on the first full day of his presidency, alleging 'abuse of power.' Greene announced the provocative move in an interview with Newsmax on Wednesday night, insisting it was not merely symbolic, despite the futility of her plan with Democrats controlling the House.  'We cannot have a president of the United States that is willing to abuse the power of the office of the presidency and be easily bought off by foreign governments, foreign Chinese energy companies, Ukrainian energy companies,' Greene said.

I don't think there should be a public inauguration due to the pandemic.   Instead is should be held at a non-disclosed location with only 6 or so people.

Biden should have provided a good example to all Americans that non-essential activities,  especially those with large gathering should be canceled.

A public inauguration is non-essential.

Well I disagree completely.  But it's not likely that they care what the two of us think.

Congress meets indoors and does its business.  This will be outdoors with people wearing masks.  And besides all of that this is probably one of the most important inauguration ceremonies in the history of the country.   I can just imagine the new enlivened conspiracy theories if they did not go ahead as planned.  America could use a bit of pomp right now.  And I don't mean the military band that Trump wants to play as he exits.

I would define Congress meeting essential,  but even with that being said it should have been done using Zoom.     I assume members of Congress have computers and access to the Internet.     For voting use software like Docusign.

Yes,  we could use a bit of pomp right now,  but,  again,  but here in America the pandemic is at its peak.     E.g.  In LA county experts are now saying one-in-three have had the virus.

(so maybe I'm reacting to that since I live only 40 miles south of there).

I hope Tuberville never taught high school social studies.

Is there a remedial Civics course for freshman Senators that aren't up to speed on the country they're supposedly governing?

He has also referred to the three branches of government as the president, Congress and the executive.  But he is a football coach so what do you expect.

Some in the GOP Parrot Far-Right Talk of a Coming Civil War

The question is whether those stoking the war talk can be controlled by the more moderate elements within the party

"War-like imagery has begun spreading in Republican circles after the attack on the U.S. Capitol by a mob of President Donald Trump's supporters, with some elected officials and party leaders rejecting pleas to tone down rhetoric calling for a second civil war.

In northwestern Wisconsin, the chairman of the St. Croix County Republican Party was forced to resign Friday after refusing for a week after the siege to remove an online post urging followers to “prepare for war.” The incoming chairwoman of the Michigan GOP and her husband, a state lawmaker, have joined a conservative social media site created after the Capitol riot where the possibility of civil war is a topic.

Phil Reynolds, a member of the GOP central committee in California’s Santa Clara County, appeared to urge on insurrectionists on social media during the Jan. 6 attack, declaring on Facebook: “The war has begun. Citizens take arms! Drumroll please….. Civil War or No Civil War?”.............

Either Cruz is lying or really dumb about the GOP.   While it has worked to attract the "blue-collar, populist, outsider" elements, which are also mostly undereducated elements, they have seldom controlled the party.   The wealthy, corporations and their supporters still dominate much of the GOPer agenda.  They have adroitly manipulated the poorly educated in the above groups to their advantage.

But there are a lot of votes in the "blue-collar, populist, outsider" crowd.  May not have much money and no lobbying influence, but they're a large part of those Trump votes.
