jakeem Posted March 19, 2017 Share Posted March 19, 2017 The artist and illustrator Bernie Wrightson, who co-created the comic book character Swamp Thing, has died of brain cancer at the age of 68. Wrightson at HeroesCon 2010 in Charlotte, N.C. "Swamp Thing," the story of a scientist who becomes transformed into the title creature after a lab accident, was the idea of writer Len Wein. Wrightson illustrated the tale, which first appeared in the DC comic House of Secrets #92 (June–July 1971). A "Swamp Thing" comic series began a year later. It inspired a 1982 Wes Craven film, a 1989 movie sequel and a 1990s television series on the USA Network.
