TopBilled
A Ronald Colman tribute was long overdue. And I don't remember the last time A DOUBLE LIFE was shown (it never airs during 31 Days of Oscar). I think a lot of people will be happy with this selection.
Swithin
Many of my all-time favorites here: Random Harvest; A Tale of Two Cities; and of course, The Light that Failed. My one quibble with the latter film, which is on my top ten films of all time, is that when people talk about it, they overpraise Ida Lupino's supporting role. It's a crucial role, and she's very good, but the greatness of the film lies in the utterly romantic story -- romance in the truest sense, as defined by E.M. Forster: "Romance is a figure with outstretched arms, yearning for the unattainable." In addition to Colman, Dudley Digges, Walter Huston, Muriel Angeles, Pedro de Cordoba, and Ferike Boros are all excellent. The opening scene is my all-time favorite opening: Ronald Sinclair (as the young Ronald Colman) and Sarita Wooton (as the young Muriel Angeles) on the beach, on the South Coast of England, 1867. This somber film also has one of the most hilarious lines in movie history. And a great score by Victor Young. Small quibble: Wish they were showing Romola, which would have made a nice pair with White Sister.
Arturo
Wow just now becoming aware of this! THE LIGHT THAT FAILED! Yes! And two fairly rare Fox films, THE MAN WHO BROKE THE BANK IN MONTE CARLO, and THE LATE GEORGE APLEY. Looking forward to this month!
ChristineHoard
This will be an excellent month on TCM. He had the best voice and was so good looking and talented. So many good movies and several I haven't ever seen or haven't seen in decades plus my late husband was named after him. Thanks for letting us know!
Arturo
I am pleased with the mix of usual suspects as well as rarities for Ronald Colman's SOTM.
Barton_Keyes
The late Robert Osborne on Ronald Colman's Oscar win for A DOUBLE LIFE (1947): "You have to believe movies such as Random Harvest, Lost Horizon, The Prisoner of Zenda, and so many others, had something to do with people marking an 'x' beside Colman's name on the Oscar ballot that year!"

LOL what I call the "Tinder" or "GRindr" shot of Colman...
