Cinemascope
She looks really old in that recent birthday photo Did anyone else hear about the special rendition of "My Favorite Things" she reportedly performed recently during a birthday celebration? To commemorate her birthday, Julie Andrews made a special appearance at Manhattan?s Radio City Music Hall for the benefit of the AARP. One of the musical numbers she performed was ?My Favorite Things? from ?The Sound of Music.? However, the lyrics of the song were deliberately changed for the entertainment of her audience?. Here are the lyrics: Maalox and nose drops and needles for knitting Walkers and handrails and new dental fittings Bundles of magazines tied up in string, These are a few of my favorite things? Cadillacs and cataracts and hearing aids and glasses Polident and Fixodent and false teeth in glasses, Pacemakers, golf carts and porches with swings, These are a few of my favorite things. When the pipes leak, When the bones creak, When the knees go bad I simply remember my favorite things, And then I don?t feel so bad. Hot tea and crumpets and corn pads for bunions No spicy hot food or food cooked with onions Bathrobes and heat pads and hot meals they bring, These are a few of my favorite things. When the joints ache, When the hips break When the eyes grow dim, Then I remember the great life I?ve had, And then I don?t feel so bad! Ms. Andrews reportedly received a standing ovation from the crowd that lasted over four minutes and repeated encores.

Cinemascope
Why is she so angry in that photo of "Duet for One"? She looks so ugly when she's angry Well anyway, since we were talking Broadway musicals, I'd like to share some more of the lyrics of Barnum, one of the greatest musicals of all time! Everything about my museum was spectacular, including the price: one dollar. Now that may seem a bit steep, but it was worth it. Look at what I gave 'em: Quite a lotta Roman terra cotta Livin' lava from the flanks of Etna Statuary Ride a dromedary See the Temple tumble and the Red Sea part. McNamara's band The fattest lady in the land A pickled prehistoric hand A strand of Pocahontas' hair Crow and Sioux Who're going to Be showing you Some rowing through A model of the rapids on the Delaware. Armadillas Clever caterpillas Reproductions of the Cyclops' ret'na Crystal blowing Automatic sewing Venus on a shell and other works of art. Educated fleas A tribe of Aborigines Two ladies joined across the knees A Mona Lisa made of ice Hottentots We've gotten in Forgotten spots A cotton gin A night with Lot in Sodom Better see that twice! One iguana Snakes and other fauna Got no bearded lady but we're get'na When you duck out Take another buck out Run around the block And see a new show start. julieandaudreyfan13
I'm a Julie Andrews fan myself, and i am glad that she did mary poppins instead of my fair lady. Although, she would have been wonderful at it! Audrey Hepburn did a "loverly" job at the role of eliza dolittle.
julieandaudreyfan13
Personaly, I think that Julie Andrews will always look pretty. She may be 71, but she is so graceful and poised.
julieandaudreyfan13
I've seen a few clips from Julie and Carol at Carnegie hall. Some of the clips are downright hilarious!
Cinemascope
Hi j&f fan I agree with you, Audrey Hepburn did a "loverly" job as Eliza, and Rex wasn't bad at all. B-)
Cinemascope
Another great song in Barnum is this one Come Follow The Band lyrics Come follow the band Wherever it's at Let both of your feet, beat, time to the drum And feel your heart go rat 'a' tat tat A flag in your hand A plume in your hat Petallions of brass, pass, and catch the light Is there a sight that's sweeter then that? See the pretty lady toss that baton high ain't she cute as a daisy Watch the fellow with the big bass drum go by Ain't ya glad that you stayed Hear the trombone play the Oompah pah Ain't it drivin' you crazy Don't ya be so darn lazy Better hurry 'n' join that big parade Up out of your seat Down off of the stand Step out to the sweet beat the bugle plays A sound that you'll remember all your days And when you see the leader proudly raise his hand Just follow the band Hear the trumpet blast And the hornet blare Hear the boom of the bass And the rattle of the snare With the sweetest burst of melody I know It's the piccolo Hear the silver tone of the xylophone Hear the glide ansd the bellow of the slide trombone With a burst of crystal listen to it peal It's the glockenspiel With a most majestic manner you'll remember all your life Come xylophone, come saxophone, come susiphone, come fife
BrendanSpencer
Wow johnm, I just spent the last hour looking at all the great pictures and even better, listening to the incredible music!! Some of it I recognized, but most of it, I've never heard before. Where's it from? I completely forgot about the film, "Duet For One". She was excellent in that. Very sad. Did I read the posts correctly, are you seeing Marni Nixon, tonight? What is she doing? This thread is great. Keep it coming!
Cinemascope
But she looks horrible in so many of those photos, the ones where she looks really old, I mean. Anyway why not discuss something happier? Have you heard of "Barnum" the musical? One of the best songs in the show is called "Colors of My Life". Here are the lyrics: Barnum: The colors of my life Are bountiful and bold, The purple glow of indigo, The gleam of green and gold. The splendor of the sunrise, The dazzle of a flame, The glory of a rainbow, I'd put 'em all to shame. No quiet browns and grays, I'll take my days instead And fill them till they overflow With rose and cherry red! And should this sunlit world Grow dark one day, The colors of my life Will leave a shining light To show the way... The splendor of a sunrise, The dazzle of a flame, The glory of a rainbow, I'd put 'em all to shame... Charity: The colors of my life Are softer than a breeze. The silver gray of eiderdown, The dappled green of trees. The amber of a wheat field, The hazel of a seed, The crystal of a raindrop, Are all I'll ever need. Your reds are much too bold, In gold I find no worth. I'll fill my days with sage and brown The colors of the earth, And if from by my side My love should roam, The colors of my life Will shine a quiet light To lead him home. BrendanSpencer
You appear to be very angry regarding Julie Andrews. What's up with that? Did she steal your lunch money or something? Lots of negative posts throughout this thread. It was creeping me out. I was confused why you kept returning to the thread. As for those songs, if you want us to appreciate them, why not post them so we can hear them? Just reading lyrics is pretty dull; and, frankly, not something I want to do. I'll listen to the songs, though. I've never heard of "Barnum". Assuming it's about the circus guy, that's not too appealing to me. I hate the circus. Why do you like it so much? Cinemascope
I love the lyrics because then you can sing along with them. Here is another one from this great show. Artist - Barnum soundtrack Album - Barnum Lyrics - Love Makes Such Fools Of Us All Jenny Lind: Botrom all grans, U tom all tid, Charlikens ler och lockar. Charlekens vind, Branner som eld, Spranger den hook-sta mur. Botrom all grans, U tom all tid, Charlekens dorskop oss fur Love knows no rules, Love has no time, Love laughs at rhyme and reason, Sweeping the stage, Mad or sublime, Knowing no age or season. Wise men and fools, Playing love's game, Bend to the same sweet treason. Love's silver song, Swift as a flame, Bends to the strongest wall. Love knows no rules, Love has no time, Love makes such fools of us all.

Cinemascope
And as good as those songs are, they keep getting better! One Brick At A Time lyrics Artist - Barnum soundtrack Album - Barnum Lyrics - One Brick At A Time Charity: The Lord gave each and everyone The spunk to do what can't be done The brawn, the brain, the courage and the heart The strength to bend the strongest bar The will to reach the farthest star It's just a case of learning how to start. To build a tower up so high to a cloud you'll anchor Build it one tiny brick at a time Bucks multiply till a bum's a banker Just begin with a thin silver dime That empty feild it can yeild miles and miles of flowers You don't need no magic powers Just a seed and showers From the floor to the sky You can soar if you're wise enough to climb One brick at a time Men: To build a ship that's built to last Charity: You lay the keel than raise the mast

Cinemascope
What does it matter to you? If others can post stuff that many don't like, why make any exceptions? But wait, because the musical keeps getting better and better! There Is A Sucker Born Every Minute lyrics Artist - Barnum soundtrack Album - Barnum Lyrics - There Is A Sucker Born Every Minute Music: Cy Coleman Lyrics: Michael Stewart Book: Mark Bramble Premiere: Wednesday, April 30, 1980 There is a sucker born every minute Each time the second hand sweeps to the top Like dandelions up they pop, Their ears so big, their eyes so wide. And though I feed ?em bonafide baloney With no truth in it Why you can bet I'll find some rube to buy my corn. ?Cause there's a sure-as-shooting sucker born a minute, And I'm referrin' to the minute you were born. Each blessed hour brings sixty of ?em Each time the wooden cuckoo shows his face Another sucker takes his place, And plunks his quarter on the line To buy my brand of genuine malarky. God bless and love ?em! But don't feel sad or hoppin' mad or cause a scene ?Cause there's a sure-as-shooting sucker born a minute, But M'am you mighta been the minute in between. There is a sucker born every minute Each time the second hand sweeps to the top Like dandelions up they pop, Their ears so big, their eyes so wide. And though my tale is bonafide baloney, Just let me spin it, And ain't no man who can resist me wait and see ?Cause there's a sure-as-shooting sucker born a minute, And friends the biggest one excluding none is me! Cinemascope
What's the point? To see how beautiful the lyrics are. If you want to hear the whole song, then get the album. I will not post bootlegs or other materials here that will deprive the authors from receiving the proper royalty fees. Here'a another great song! Bigger Isn't Better lyrics Bigger isn't better Taller isn't braver Stronger isn't always wise Smaller isn't necessarily the lesser Guts can come in any size Lady luck can favor Just a little shaver Over one who's 6-foot-3 Brains in any tussle Mop the floor with muscle Bet your life I'm glad I'm me (Chorus:) Bigger isn't keener Larger isn't bolder Higher might be low inside When you need to lean upon a friendly shoulder Narrow's just as good as wide See the mighty lion sittin there and crying bitten by a tiny flea Mammoth was colossal what's he now? A fossil! Bet your life I'm glad I'm me What strong and hope they lag along Get brains and heart That handsome hunk might be a Lilliputian medley, Proven consequently... Though he shows his shoulders twice as big as boulders If his brain's a tiny pea When your in a pickle He ain't worth a nickel Bet your life I'm...Bet your life I'm glad I'm me (Spoken) Ladies and Gentlemen together for the first time Mister PT Barnum's two star attractions General Top Dog and Jumbo! That's some elephant! Aw, isn't the little guy cute? Let me see, let me see! BRANDON, get back here! I'm OK Mom! (Back to Singing) The dinosaur's no more, the dear old dodo's dead, But right there on that floor some ants will still be treadin after Armageddon Bet there isn't a hero, weight is less than zero Height ain't worth a hoot in hell Show me any hunk of man to match the spunk of Tiny Tim or Little Nell Giants look so awesome folks are scared to cross em' None the less I guarantee Small as Yankee Doodle if he's in the moodle beat the whole Caboodle using just his noodle... BrendanSpencer
Bootlegs? Isn't the album available? We'll agree to disagree on this.
Cinemascope
Just avoid the subject of JA and you'll find me just as welcoming as ever!
