August Schedule is Up! SUTS

Recommended Posts

I have 4 requests for that one day in August not scheduled.  Ann Sheridan, Veronica Lake and Paulette Goddard be great but love to see a day of Madeline Kahn movies.

The two unscheduled days are for the winners of the TCM Backlot member's poll. One day will be Virginia Mayo or Claire Trevor, while the other will be Cary Grant or Gregory Peck.

One of those is an easy choice .

The other is downright cruel.

If the unscheduled day salutes Virginia Mayo, I would like to see a first rate print of JACK LONDON.

If the unscheduled day salutes Claire Trevor, a premiere showing of MAN WITHOUT A STAR would be nice.

If the unscheduled day salutes Gregory Peck, a premiere showing of THE WORLD IN HIS ARMS would be nice.

If Claire Trevor is selected, it would be nice to see some rarities of hers from early in her career, such as some of her Fox films from the 1930s.....and help to shake up this mostly staid and safe month.

Yes, that would be great.     The earliest film I have seen with Trevor is Dead End (1937).

Didn't all of them have their days in August in the past?  Most of the other selections have and have birthday tributes as well as Star of the Month.  Madeline Kahn needs to finally get her due.  I be happy if the did a birthday salute at least this year being it would have been her 75th.

Doesnt matter. That's not how they decide.

From another thread, a good selectee for future SUTS honoree is Dolores Del Rio. TCM could show some of her early Hollywood films as well as her later classic Mexican films. They could schedule her for a Sunday, and keep their evening format, and use a silent or two, followed by a couple of Spanish-language films.
