muttsfan1
Marion Hargrove, author of 1940s best-selling book, "See Here, Private Hargrove", died this weekend. He was 83 years old. His mis-adventures in basic training at Ft. Bragg, N.C. were published in diary format and published in his North Carolina hometown newspaper. A book was published under that title; the book became a best-seller. An MGM movie was filmed, starring Robert Walker in the lead roll, supported by a cast including Donna Reed, Chill Wills, and Keenan Wynn. A sequel, "What's next, Corporal Hargrove", was filmed w/ Walker reprising his role. Hargrove, discharged as a Sargeant, went on to radio, T.V. and film writing. He wrote the Screenplay of the musical, "The Music Man," starring Robert Preston. Another "Taps" for another WW II veteran....
bansi4
It's just to bad that Robert Walker who so ably played Private Hargrove didn't live into his 80's too. Mongo
