Vautrin
I think ford felt pity for him. he was a broken man. Yeah, he was a "broken man" for a few months, then he was back again as a self-appointed foreign policy guru.
Dargo
The funniest thing to me about the whole Carter issue was that when he was running for office, the republicans made a HUGE deal out of his "D.C. inexperience". "He's never held an office HIGHER than GOVERNOR of a STATE! " they cried. "HOW can we expect him to know how to handle the affairs of an ENTIRE NATION?" they exclamed. And what Ford was saying. So, WHO did the republicans choose to oppose him come the NEXT election? Why, former GOVERNOR Ronald Reagan! Somehow, HE had more "D.C.experience" than former GOVERNOR Jimmy Carter. Go figure. Sepiatone Yeah, and now the REALLY "funny" thing is that 36 YEARS later the Republican Party would nominate a certain television reality show host of a man-child possessing absolutely NO experience in governance. And thus of course, another case of "the outsider" catching the imagination of the public. (...well, "catching the imagination" of "a certain segment" of the public, anyway...Yeeeeeah, "a certain segment", and I'll just leave it at that for now) Edited June 23, 2017 by Dargo

Harry S Truman, 33rd President of the United States Source: Plain Speaking: An Oral Biography of Harry S Truman by Merle Miller, 1974 Hmmmm...kind'a makes ya wonder what Harry S. Truman would've said about Donald J. Trump, doesn't it. (...MY guess, and knowing how Harry could be rather "colorful" with his language on occasion, would be that it would have included a mention of some other body part other than the mouth)
