yes, but the msm obsessing daily about the take-down of trump as well as only reflecting on the predominately liberal views of Hollywood, NYC and DC disregards and dismisses everyone else.

the rest of America is not some silly underrground society of southern rural inbreds but that is what the msm has liked to sell...

oh and one other thing...arrogance is not intellect, superior or any other kind.

:P

what is being sold is the total bee ess that liberals, feminists, secularists and progressives would never have elected somebody even remotely as ludicrous as trump...

but they already did...bill clinton!

the man who poured out his guts to monica lewinsky.

Actually, this thread is mistitled.  America ISN'T being held hostage by Trump.  But I can't say the same for the news outlets and Twitter.

And some people, like Nip, are so busy concerning themselves with the "right" and the "left" that they never notice what's happening right in FRONT of them!

I doan think disatisfaction with trump is either right or left. the man ran as a republican so they are gonna be against him regardless.

trump ain't doing anything that the democrats have not empowered him to do by running hillary like a bunch of mindless lemmings because donna brazile, debbie wasserman schultz and jennifer granholm wanted them to in order to fulfill their lifelong feminist fantasy of a woman president.

so they ran somebody the working middle class had absolutely zero reason to believe would give a dam about their economic situations...but the polls were saying she was practically in so they swallowed it.

you can't blame that on trump. no sir! :)

Good words from a good man who rarely spoke sans some profanity.  ;)

But you do realize that there are sadly many today who'd consider those words not ONLY heresy, but treasonous  as well.

those are great words about all men being created free and equal. here's the thing, these great words have often been trodded out by american liberals over the decades...

they were written by jefferson who attributed his notion to his strong belief in God...

which liberals are averse to and retreat from like a vampire from a cross.

now where's the sense in that? simple. they doan wanna attribute thomas jefferson's intuitive recognition to God but only man and that is a very blatant bias.

and therein lies the problem for multitudes of godless liberals and secularists. they wanna laud the equality of all men as articulated by jefferson but doan wanna attribute it to God as thomas jefferson most certainly did.

so what to do? they like what jefferson wrote but are repulsed by his open acknowledgement of God.

and that is when liberals decide to trash the original intent of the framers.

cute.

so how to distance the words of thomas jefferson from his own recognition of God?...

which would require some great semantical sleight of hand.

and such necessity of ideological intransigence is nether tolerant or inclusive in any way...of anything.

liberalism tripped up by it's own unavoidable hypocrisy.

:D

Like Thomas Jefferson, Benjamin Franklin respected the teachings of Jesus Christ but he did not believe in the Divinity of Jesus Christ.

Therefore neither Jefferson nor Franklin were Christians. They were children of the French Enlightenment--Les Lumières-- the Age of Reason.

Both the principles of the French Revolution and the American Revolution came from the Enlightenment.

In France the Enlightenment leaders were Montesquieu, Jean-Jacques Rousseau, the Marquis De Sade and Voltaire among others.

English leaders in the Age of Reason were John Locke and Thomas Paine.

Now Princess! Do you REALLY "believe" that you're going to get ND "enlightened" to this aspect of American Founders' thoughts?

(...sorry lady, but you should know by now that people who "believe" that "America is a Christian nation" HAVE those "beliefs" SO embedded within them that no matter what FACTS you may throw at 'em...well, YOU know...and you should also probably save your keystrokes in any attempts to "enlighten" people such as our friend ND here that the Constitution of the United States of America is MUCH more based on Masonic principles than in any religion, INCLUDING Christianity)

It might be a good idea to read what were the thoughts / ideas of our founding fathers through there writings.

https://wallbuilders.com/founding-fathers-jesus-christianity-bible/

Point(s) well taken here, ham.

However, ever consider the thought that while these were SOME of the Founders' personal opinions about Christianity, for the most part they were ALSO "enlightened" enough to know that these personal opinions on this matter should not be CODIFIED into secular law, EXCEPT in regard to having the populace remain FREE to "believe" and worship whatever theology they may wish, and as it was/is codified within our Constitution?

(...because after reading many of those quotes you supplied and where these Founders stated their high regard for Christianity, NOT ONCE did I read anything within them where they posited the thought of something such as, "And by God, once we establish this young country's laws, I'm going to attempt to press as much as possible my personal religious beliefs into them"...nope, I didn't see that anywhere...did you?)
