next Esther Williams sets

Recommended Posts

It seems clear that, although Turner took ages getting around to it, the Esther Williams box set has been a great success. May I suggest for Volume 2:

THRILL OF A ROMANCE('45) -it's charming - and she looks amazing in it

THIS TIME FOR KEEPS('47) her most under-rated film; lots of fun

PAGAN LOVE SONG('50) Esther in the South Seas with Howard Keel

MILLION DOLLAR MERMAID('52) her most elaborate aquatic numbers

JUPITER'S DARLING('55) Esther in Ancient Rome, with Howard Keel as Hannibal

Marge & Gower and a memorably exciting underwater chase

That still leaves 5 more for a third volume sometime in the future:

FIESTA('47) Ricardo Montalban is her brother this time -and they're both bullfighters!!!

DUCHESS OF IDAHO('50) ho-hum except for Esther

TEXAS CARNIVAL"51) Howard Keel,Ann Miller,some good songs

SKIRTS AHOY('52) genial musical fluff - and Esther looks great in a WAVES uniform

EASY TO LOVE('53) diverting songs - especially "That's What a Rainy Day is For".

And Busby Berkely handles the aqua numbers.

And finally - as many commentators have realized after viewing the first box set - wet OR dry, Esther was a star - ravishing, a fine comedienne and a total charmer.
