That's great, I have seen the "special edition" and am considering getting that one.

I don't seem to be any hurry myself about getting it, maybe because AMC seems to

air it quite frequently, even though it's with commercials. Still, I always find myself

sucked into watching it. It's like potato chips, one taste and I have to have more!

They're both terrific westerns, Arkadin. I haven't had a chance to watch them on my HDTV yet, but I'm sure they will look totally terrific B-)

Hi Joel! Wow, that's one of the most rugged scenes from THE CAME TO CODURA. I can

hardly watch that part, it's so painful. But it's a terrific movie that, though apparently chopped

up by the producers, still packs quite a strong punch. I love the whole philosophical angle

of trying to analyze exactly what constitutes true "courage".

And I can't say enough good things about *Man of the West*. Spare, lean and razor sharp.

It's Anthony Mann's at his his best and pared down to the bones.

Correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't _THEY CAME TO CODURA_the last movie Coop made. I read somewhere that he was so sick during the filming of this movie that they tried to get him to stop but he saw it through. The more I read and hear about this man the more I respect his work.

Not quite. His last movie was *The Naked Edge* (1961). It is true he was reportedly in pain during the filming. According to the info I found, that movie was released following his death - maybe one of our Coop experts could confirm that.

I have neglected this gallery a while, but good western pictures are getting

scarcer and scarcer. Here are a couple, one I found today, which reminded me that

I had this place to post it. The first is Henry Fonda and the director Sergio

Leoni with messers Tonino, Valeri and Henry Fonda in My Name is Nobody and

the large picture below it is Richard Arlen in a publicity shot for the 1928 silent

western, Under the Tonto Rim (which I think is a Zane Grey story??)
