screencaps....hint....hint

Ha....I only just got started on those and then Rio Bravo sort of interupted me... but I am already thinking I need to pick up where I left off... because I suddenly have a serious case of Western Ramble Fever...ha. :-)

Ah...what a shot.

I just learned a little tidbit about the script. John Wayne apparently patterned

some of the characterization of "Hondo Lane" on director Victor Fleming. In fact,

he had "San Dimas" mentioned in the script----because San Dimas was where

he and Fleming used to go hunting and fishing together when Wayne was younger.

Fleming was a man who left a big footprint in the imaginations of many who knew

him personally.

I don't know anything about Fleming... but if he is anything like HONDO.... and if the Duke was as "rough and tumble" a young man as I imagine he might have been.. I bet they were right at home w/ the WILDlife. :-)

George O'Brien had more sex appeal in his pinkie than Matthew or any of these modern jerk actors have in their entire bodies!!

And now that you mention Bancroft, he was sort of attractive in that burly kind of way.

And I'm very attracted to Tom Tyler as Luke Plummer in STAGECOACH. (never knew he was so good-looking, because the only role I knew him in was as Kharis in one of the Universal mummy movies)

I found some Fort Apache stills to "accompany" the discussion in Western Rambles.

OH Wow.... great pics, little lady (my favorite is the one w/ Shirley Temple and the three men "stairstepped" behind her.... what a great photo)

And PS.... Re: photos of George... wow! :-)

Bronxgirl - A while back Mongo posted a few photos of George that showed much more

than his chest. If it weren't so late, I'd look for them.

Apparently, he was an athlete and model.
