Kyle In Hollywood's CENSORED Poster Gallery

Recommended Posts

*Kyle, you gave me quite a scare earlier today. The poster for Juke Girl looks awesome, but it might be a day early.*

The movie plays overnight (3:00 am our time here on the west coast) so if he had posted the poster tomorrow morning, the movie would have already aired.

True. But mostly, given the choice between *Juke Girl* or one of these...

A very good point, Kyle. There is no question the *Juke Girl* poster was the best of the bunch. And that new *Marius* poster is breathtakingly beautiful. You've got great taste for picking just the right poster! ;)

Hi 'visualfeast' -

Actually I think these characitures of the Marx Bros. are the product of Al Hirschfeld (who worked at MGM in the 30s) and variations of these images were used in many of the ads for their films (Domestic and Euopean). I will see if I can find some other examples.

Kyle,

Those are great Marx Brothers posters! Al Hirschfeld is one of my favorites.

I don't know how you find so many great posters month after month but I'm glad you do!

*...Al Hirschfeld (who worked at MGM in the 30s)...* - Kyle

He was still working for them through at least 1946. I have images of several MGM posters (and have seen some of their promotional ads) with his work.

You're right. Here's some stationery MGM was using in 1945 that is full of Hirschfeld characitures. (All except the showgirls.)
