JackFavell
That poster for The Sugarland Express is so hideous, I can barely speak. The only good thing about it is that Ben Johnson's name is in large print..... Sorry.

HollywoodGolightly
I like both posters. The one for The Third Man is very classy; the one for The Sugarland Express has a very 70s look to it. Both are effective in getting across something about each movie.

But "interesting" posters for tonight's line-up of Speilberg movies were few and far between. It was *The Sugarland Express* or this... kjk

lzcutter
Jackie, I agree about *The Sugarland Express* poster. The poster makes it look like a comedy starring Goldie Hawn while, in actuality, it is a drama starring Goldie. She's very good in it but it's not a light and breezy film which the poster with her great big smile would make you think it is.
HollywoodGolightly
Of course, there was this other poster....
JackFavell
That's exactly it, Lz! I can't imagine how unprepared audiences were for the actual movie.

HollywoodGolightly
Love the artwork in the Dead End poster, it's very unique. And the one for The Letter is simply divine, love the way it makes Bette look... may be the best poster I have yet seen for a Davis movie.
joefilmone
The were trying to market "The Sugarland Express" as a Goldie Hawn vehicle . No wonder the film was a box office failure. And yes David does looks every inch a STAR on "The Letter" poster.

Minya
Oh Kyle! You have brought some light to what has been a trying weekend! I love Errol Flynn and I love these movies! Of course, we all know how I feel about pirates. I actually have the Captain Blood poster in the pirate bathroom. It's one of my favorites. I'm also thrilled that I could actualy post this. HollywoodGolightly
Wonderful posters, for some of their directors' lesser-known films. The one for Fury seems appropriately subdued, as befits such a grim story; and the one for Give a Girl a Break is adequately joyful!

It was only relatively recently that I found that image. Otherwise it was going to be a poster for *The Lady Eve*.
