Reminiscent of Hide-Out

Recommended Posts

Some time back I saw a movie reminiscent of Hide-Out (1934) on TCM, but I can't remember the title. The basic plot is that some criminals (with stolen money) go to their hide-out, only to find it's been taken over by squatters (one difference from Hide-Out). I seem to recall they had to paint one of the buildings on the farm, which led to some comedy; the squatters organized a party with all the townsfolk for the criminals, and they eventually buried their treasure for the father of the squatter family to find at the end.

Any ideas what movie this is?

I don't think that's it; I seem to recall it being multiple criminals escaping, and claiming to the folks squatting on their farm to be hunters. None of this is mentioned in the TCMDB.

Hideaway certainly sounds like the movie I saw. I guess it's shown so rarely that nobody's been able to write a plot summary for it over on the IMDb. :-)

Thanks for the info.
