Trivia on The Last Voyage: The ship used in the film had been built in the 20's and was called the Ile de France. It was, for a brief time after its launching, the largest liner in the world. Four years before this movie was made, it played an instrumental role in the Andrea Doria rescue, the largest peacetime sea rescue in history. The ship was soon purchased by the studio that made this film and was actually sunk in shallow water while filming to make the movie more realistic.

Wasn't at the Andrea Doria, an american actress who survived its wreckage....eeehhh, Ruth Roman...actress who played the leading female role in Hitchcock's "Strangers on a Train" (she was Farley Granger's high society fianc?e)...she's very beautiful....(among other movies she did).....I remember watching footage on TV, many years ago, which showed the moment of her rescue by a lifeboat??.....Awesome stuff the Andrea Doria sinking....It not only reminds me the Titanic....but also the movie "History is Made At Night" (1937)....with Charles Boyer and Jean Arthur....wonderful movie!!

I didn't catch the beginning of the movie this time, but I saw that Ben Mankiewicz gave a little commentary at the end. My question is, how much of what I said below did he give in his introduction of the movie?

Feaito, the Andrea Doria was/is a great ship. One of the most beautiful liners ever. Not nearly as large as some, but it had a nice stout, fat appearance.

Yeah, it's an amusing pic! The film has pro-animal rights, pro-vegetarianism overtones (or undercurrents?) that I had to overlook to enjoy the movie.

Now, I'm gonna try to make something of the hints. Stay tuned, no promises...

Yeah, I've gotta whittle down my "must see" list. I'll rent a batch of movies tomorrow (if the roads aren't too sloppy).

Here we go;

Hint #1: A train ride
